DOS was written in Assembly language. Entirely.

Cool. I tried doing something similar on the C64, but no video memory switching, just copying the stack between contexts instead. :-)

Have you checked out ReactOS? It's a open source binary-compatible clone of Windows. They even wrote their own open source version of Task Manager which looks the same! I wonder how theirs would compare to yours
