When my husband and I bought our home, we had this (funny now, not then) fight about a junk drawer. His parents are super organized so that didn't exist in my hubs childhood. I always grew up with one and was horrified at losing one! Nearly 20 years into this house and into minimalism, I think you just gave me my very next epic project: rid the junk drawer AND reclaim that drawer for something WOW and useful. Gracias!

I love the idea of using those boxes our phones come in....sturdy and free! I am seriously contemplating getting rid of my junk drawer altogether. Trying to follow the idea of everything has a home.

My mom and dad constantly were putting all their supplements in the dining table. I used no give them basket so the mess could look a little bit better. ☺️ Then I had an idea and I repurposed a little table that they have in the dining room, so I put the supplements baskets in the table and now the dining table is clean and neat. 😀❤️

My whole life (I'm 68) I have never had a Junk Drawer, neither did my mother. I didn't even know about them until about a decade ago. Pens, pencils, rubberbands and other office paraphernalia have always gone in the desk drawer, tools in the tool box, bandaids in the first aid kit. When everything has a home, what do you need a Junk Drawer for?

My favorite repurpose is to make surfaces into a place for a plant. This deters people from dumping stuff onto the surface and looks nice as well.

I moved my junk drawer to a drawer half the size and used old cell phone boxes as dividers! I love it!

Creating homes for each item is such a must after decluttering ❤️ What helps even more is realizing *WHERE* we naturally gravitate putting each item, too :) I like certain getting ready items with my makeup so I don't even have to think! 🎉

I used to accumulate clothes in my bedroom because I had worn them but was planning on wearing them again before washing them. Now I have dedicated a part of my closet organiser for them with hangers, hooks … That way I don’t forget and I can use my chair for sitting!

I haven't had a junk drawer in my kitchen for years. Everything has a home so no need for one. I also created a drop zone inside the door for my family...key holder, hooks for back packs, basket for shoes, wipoff board for reminders, bulletin board for permission slips, invitations, etc. It really works!

It is such a struggle to get family to put things where they go sometimes. Every day, I hang up my husbands coat after work that he puts on the back of a chair. It’s a little thing. But also kind of mind boggling because the closet is closer. Maybe I’ll look into cute coat rack as you suggested!

We had a built-in desk in our breakfast room that was very outdated and wound up being a MAJOR catchall. My husband pulled the desk out and built a bench with cubbies for shoes underneath and hooks for backpacks along the back.

The “basket of batteries” drove me nuts. We never seemed to know how many of each size we had.I found that clear or translucent pencil holders are great because I can right away see how many I have of each size.

I almost died laughing at 05:25, my husband drops his jacket on top of his boots and socks on the floor next to the door just about every day (no shoe rack). The only time he doesn't is if his boots are wet from rain or snow.
