Metal Detecting in the Netherlands! My best year ever! Highlights 2024!

In this video you can see my best Metal Detecting finds of the year 2024! I started the year with an absolut dream find; an early medieval gold coin from the sixth century. It's a Pseudo Imperial Tremissis from France. It's a crude imitation of a late Roman gold coin from Constantinopel. That was the start of an exceptionally good year with lots of wonderful Metal Detecting finds! A couple of days later I found an amazing red enameled disc brooch from the Carolingian period dated somewhere between the ninth and eleventh century. One a the best disc brooches that I've found with the metal detector! A lot of people ask me with which metal detector I search, well: I search with the Minelab Manticore, and before that with the CTX3030, both very good metal detectors! And after that beautiful disc brooch I had the pleasure of finding a sceat from my favorite type: a Wodan Monster sceat! This tiny silver medieval coin is from somewehere around the year 700 A.D. and was probably made right here in Friesland or in Denmark. The reverse side of the coin displays a monster that bites its own tail! Later on another field I found a silver Roman coin that was struck under the reign of emperor Trajan somewhere around the year 100 A.D. These silver Roman coins are called Denarius or Denari. A couple of weeks later I was invited to go and search with the metal detector at a permision from a friend of mine who lives a lttle bit down south from where I live. I found a couple of wonderful coins there, including a bronze Roman follis to commemorate the city of Rome. On this fourth century follis are displayed: The founders of Rom; Romulus and Remus and wolf who raised them according to the legend. I also found a beautiful silvered denarius from emperor Augustus
that was the best Roman coin that I found in my metal detecting career! After the trip I found two amazing broohes back home. The first was a rare type disc brooch with white enameled dots in the brooch, this brooch is about 1000 years old. The second was a big Roman brooch complete with the pin still on it! This brooch is from the first Century century and was used by the Roman Army. They also call it a soldiers brooch. Next week my search buddy had a good field for us. I found a couple of nice coins there. I found a Scottish cut-half penny from the 13th century there, later a very good looking silver coin from the Dutch city of Kampen. This coin is from the 17th century. And last but definitely not least I found one of the best coins ever! A stunning Roman coin from emperor Gallienus. The letters and portret and still very good and the patina is just super. For a third century coin, this coin is perfect! A couple of days later on a different location I found a cross shaped brooch from the Carolingian period. It's amazing that this 1000 years old brooch is still complete and in such a good condition! Then in the summer when all the fields were full with crops we didn't went out searching much. But on one occasion I went out searching and found a nice silver Roman coin from emperor Antoninus Pius. This second century denarius still looks pretty good after being under the ground for such a long time. When the first crops came off I started of the hunt for history with a tiny medieval coin hoard. I sent this stack of silver coins away for a professional cleaning. It took five months for the separating and cleaning but the result was worth it! It contained four very nice medieval coins and a couple of broken onces. The coins are Frisian Anonymous coins and these are dated between 1175 and 1225 A.D. Then I found some more brooches, a belly button brooch from the 10th century, a very good looking Star brooch with a glass pearl in the center from the 11th Century. After the brooches it was time for some silver coins; I found a silver 14 Liard piece from the Austrian Netherlands and a silver stuiver from the Dutch province of Overijssel from the year 1628. The Bow Tie brooch that I found one week later is dated between the years 800 and 1000 A.D. What I found next still amazes me: A gold pendant with a garnet. This pendant is early medieval and its orgin probably lies in England. A similar pendant was found in an Anglo Saxon grave. The princess grave which was found near Loftus, North Yorkshire. A couple of weeks later I found again some gold. This time it was a 100 to 200 years old small ring. Ten minutes later I found a stunning Voided Long Cross penny from Henry III. This 13th century silver medieval coin is one of my favorite coin finds from this year, the blue patina is amazing! Later that day when I was on my way back to the car I found a late medieval Horse Pendant from the 14Th Century. This was one of my best huntings trips this year! When I retuned to the field a week later I found a 18th Century copper coin in a very good condition! This coin is from the Dutch province of Gelderland.
