This Is How They Tow Cars In Europe In Under A Minute

If you travel to Europe and want to park your car in a tow-away zone for just a few seconds. Brace yourself, because you may find your car missing in action. In Europe, they use a tow truck with a crane attached to simply pluck your car away.

I used to love watching this in London, especially when the owner of the car returned in the middle of the process. The thing is that once they started removing your car they would not stop even if you returned and found them doing it and tempers would flare! The removal guys have been assaulted many times in the past. However, in London they have stopped removing cars like this and instead issue a penalty ticket - probably because the councils don't have enough money to maintain the trucks fleet.

The last clip using forks is the most efficient and effective way I've ever seen.

I lived in Europe for 15 years. The streets are really narrow in places, and there are few places where a tow truck can hook up at the front and rear. I also see this kind of towing in NYC and Chicago where everything is more compact/dense. But with the exception of repos, I never see any tow that takes a minute or less (including hook-up and anchoring, anyway).

The Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has made parking enforcement an art form. I wouldn’t even stand still there form more than 30 seconds for fear of being clamped and towed.

And I've never seen or use that European style.

I was wondering about the strapping process too. But that last one was like a Houdini trick; one second your car's there, the next - whoosh! It's gone.

They have these because they have to. Because of how narrow many of the roads are our method of towing wouldn't work. That's not to say this isn't better. Just imagine how many repos wouldn't end in violence because the owner caught them. Even if the owner did catch them, and especially if they pulled up with that last machine and could operate it from the cab without exiting the truck, They'd be out of there before the guy could do a damn thing about it. As a former tow truck operator and repo guy I definitely felt a strong sense of envy watching this. Lucky S.O.B.'s 😉
