The video wouldn't load so I just read the comments and I was thoroughly confused until I realized they were both Dr Mike..

He's got a point though. The plantain crisps I see are just marginally better for you than regular potato ones, but they cost £4 a pack and are marketed as "healthy" and includes a bunch of health stuff on it. I'm seeing even snickers have branched out into protein bars lately. I'm sorry Dr Mike, but I'm with Dr Mike on this one

I like that man's thinking ability.
He thought about it so quickly.

Healthy junk food is absolutely a booming industry. Potato chips fried in lard or avocado oil. Sugar free ice cream and chocolate. Chickpea pasta. Artificially sweetened drinks and diet soda. Anything Annies brand (mac n cheese, rice crispy treats, cheese puffs, etc). It's a huge market.

Diabetic here who works out... I literally spend $100+ per month on low-sugar, low-carb, high-protein junk food. Legendary, Quest, etc. They're like $3-4 per serving, but I miss the real stuff so much :(

Worked in pharmacies for 11 years. The most common question from people who considered buying supplements for weight loss was "Can I allow myself cakes when taking these?". Having a miracle pill and indulging your cravings is much easier than buiding a healthy relationship with nutrition.

The prices of everything labeled high protein is so high it’s such a smart marketing tactic

I love watching both of these guys, seeing this interview was so exciting! This was definitely the best part.

I work grocery retail. They're both right. Sales in "regular" junk food dip during different parts of the year. "Healthy" snacks sales rise. Thats why food companies typically own both kinds of brands. Alot of food companies are owned or were owned by former tobacco execs. The food is designed to give you cravings. Nothing in nature is going to hit the same markers for fat, sugar, and salt as an Oreo. It was designed to have a unique nutrition marker. Protien drinks, bars, and powders do the same things. They are designed to make you crave it, make you a brand loyalist, and make you a repeat customer.

As someone on mounjaro, it radically decreases compulsive urges, so while yes I might have a planned meal that's tasty, I don't have impulses for junk food nearly as much. I now might get fast food once a week at most.

I actually think that people won't care about the healthiness of the snacks. People take ozempic to get thin, not healthy, so in reality they will eat even more unhealthy snacks.

The fact that nobody talks about Health Secrets Industry Hides by Heather Collins really gets to me. Always loved doctors that opens our eyes.

My Nurse Wife is a gastro specialist. The long term affects of these drugs is hitting their office hard the last year. Eating junk food when your gut is beyond slowed down means all the junk gets processed into the body when normally that all jist flows right through...😅

This just feels weird, we engineer addictive unhealthy foods to then mass produce a drug that 'helps' you regulate your hunger from these foods that were designed to get you addicted. This is so weird, meanwhile there's starving people in the world. How did it get so messed up like this ? (Yes it's corporate profits always comes down to this)

Ex. Protein Chips: expensive as all hell but hit the spot when you want to eat something that tastes unhealthy but is actually pretty good for you.

There is a reason why Coca-Cola is putting Coke Zero at the front of their marketing now. If they can keep selling you a drink, but it harms your body less — it’s objectively good for them, because you got one less reason to not buy it.

The junk food industry isn’t going to benefit from people eating less junk food, like really? 🙄

Whoever is trying to lose weight, good for you. Do it. I myself lost 150 pounds in 2 years. What enough people don’t talk about is what I’m now experiencing: I have massive psychological issues when it comes to food. I literally won’t eat unless I’ve already worked out because I feel I haven’t “earned” it. So take from this what you will. I, however, regret every decision I ever made that put me at the weight that I was in the past. Make smart choices.
