The law is no more "the law" if it is served "buffet style". No one should get to pick and choose, if the law for the same offence can be applied to one person, but not the next. If the application of the law is selective, then it is not more the law then, instead, the law then becomes a baseball bat with which one goes to town with against someone they don't like.
