Like previous incarnations of the character, it is revealed that King Ghidorah is not of this Earth.

"A false king" You can practically feel the hate when Serizawa says that.

Serazawa calls Ghidorah a false king with such spite.

The fact that he's from outside Earth is just terrifying. There are probably many creatures like him in other planets and can be possible for them to coming to Earth 😮

I love that Ghidorah is an alien in the Monsterverse. I think that’s the best origin for Ghidorah.

Edit: Thanks for the 1K likes!

If there is another MonsterVerse movie, I would love to see the origins of the Titans, the Arrival of Ghidorah, and his early rivalry to the King himself!

“ They have as king over them, the angel of the Abyss. A star fallen from heaven to Earth, he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like that of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened...”

*A Hydra whose storms swallowed both men and gods alike.* So that means he has killed other Titans in the ancient past. Huh. So could he have killed the Anguirus-like Titan in Godzilla's underwater city?

I'd love a Origin story that shows just how much havoc Ghidorah caused thousands of years ago when more titans roamed the earth. There is no telling how many Titans he killed back then and what he did to get Godzilla's attention.

I love how they kept ghidorah a alien instead of making him more realistic. Make ghidorah more like the classic one as well. I do hope that this time he is not a pawn of a alien army or something like that

My headcanon: Upon his arrival on Earth, King Ghidorah sensed the existence of Hollow Earth and its energy source. He sought to obtain the energy to make him stronger. Before he could find or reach the entrance (the same one in GvK) in Antarctica, Godzilla was able to stop him and defeat him.

If the Earth's native Titans are all representative of forces and aspects of nature - Godzilla represents nature's ability to maintain its balance by itself, Mothra represents nature at its most beautiful and plenty, the MUTOs represent nature's chaotic side, and the Titans generally represent nature's cycle of destructive renewal - then Ghidorah is representative of an asteroid impact. As something from space, Ghidorah comes from wholly outside of the planetary ecology's established order and its ability to control or prepare for, and when it makes impact, it causes a rapid extinction event in the form of a swift burst of destruction and a change in the climate that causes most life to die off faster than it can adapt.

Ghidorah's basically a living terraformer and superweapon. In most of the original storylines he is depicted as being built/used by some sort of advanced alien race to strike against the Earth in preparation for an alien invasion, his gigantic size only being countered by the equal size and strength of Godzilla and his cohorts. It's highly likely that this is what we can expect of the Monsterverse as well - Ghidorah likely was sent by an alien power to prepare Earth for their arrival. By manipulating the planet's other titans/kaiju, Ghidorah effectively could wipe out any pre-existing civilization and also use them to help change the planet to fit his alien masters' needs. Any resistance he would encounter - in the form of the races of men or other kaiju - he would meet with hostile force. Thus far, only Godzilla has proven to be his match...but Ghidorah's never out for long. He has a way of coming back.

My guess for what atrocities King Ghidorah had done in the past:
Sunk Atlantis
Sunk Mu
Sunk Lemuria
Destroyed the Indus Valley Civilization
Destroyed Shambala
Caused the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago (similar to Rebirth of Mothra 3)
Wiped out many kaiju species on Earth at the same time as he wreaked havoc on Earth 65 million years ago
Caused the extinction of life on Mars, Venus, and many other countless planets outside the Solar System

The scariest part of Ghidorah to me isn't that he's an alien life form. It's that on close inspection, despite being propped up as an apex, he acts like anything but.

He frequently cuts and runs when he can't maintain an advantage or when he has an opportunity to. He's a coward. He fled after Monarch started firing missiles at him, he bolted after the Oxygen Destroyer hit despite having Goji dead to rights and being completely unaffected, and the first thing Godzilla did when he went Burning was melt his wings off so he couldn't attempt to flee. He's also noticeably craftier than other Kaiju; instead of tanking attacks, he tries to dodge them, and he's willing to use his environment to tip the scales. Add that to the fact that his neurons are scattered throughout his body and his insane regenerative capabilities, meaning that he can survive what should be fatal injuries to make an escape and... he feels more like an above-average prey species than anything else.

So here's my question.

What the hell is on his homeworld that preys on his species? And what kind of hellscape IS his homeworld?

Imagine becoming an enormous ancient creature with all the power you wield, traveling from a different universe, then found an inhabitable planet to rule with your own desire. Must be one of great many reasons why it feels absolutely exciting to be an enthralling ruler, or a divine villain. I highly respect to everybody's opinion and to the Legendary Ghidorah.

I like how they figured out what Ghidorah really is.

I love how that ominous chanting kicks in at 0:20. Like just mentioning Ghidorah instantly kills whatever mood may have been going on.

But let's be honest. The line at 0:56 should have been:

*Dr. Chen:* Ghidorah. The One Who is Many.
*Mark:* Ghi-what?
*Sam:* I think she said Ghidrah.
*Dr. Chen:* _Ghidorah!_

King Ghidorah really isn’t a King of the Monsters, he’s the *Devil* of the Monsters
