It was a few days before the Brexit referendum and the polls showed a race that was too close to call. But a speech by the U.S. president, Barack Obama, had the potential to tip the scales.

5 years later, still no trade deal. Maybe you should have taken that advice from a friend instead of accusing him of fearmongering.

the fact that it puts the UK in a queue has nothing to do with the U.S. decisions.. its just how it works

If Obama came out anti-Brexit, did that ensure a victory for Brexit?

he also "weighed in" on the US presidential election - no one outside the media cared what he thought

Obama certainly “helped” didn’t he ? Didn’t do much here in the States, either.

In any case

a. The USA still doesn't have a deal with the eu, and Trump has said "I can't do business with those guys"
b. Obama is yesterday's papers
c. The USA has repeatedly told the UK it stands ready to make a trade deal as soon as we leave the EU.

How is the Brexit going? Sometimes our eyes eat more than our stomach can take. Barry O had a point. Truth is even if somehow Britain is done with Brexit. They will still be at the back of the queue. Simply trade is better with a larger block. Obviously, they will be considered priority.. but not high priority. Simple. He. Was. Right.

'back of the queue'may not b the best argument for "Remain" when the whole " leave" campaign is sentimental to start with.

His comments towards Brexit were disrespectful and ineffective.

This wasn’t 2008 Obama, this was 2016 status quo Obama.

Wait... Shouldn't my President want to take advantage of instability to get better deals for his own nation? Why the hell wouldn't he play one off the other _FOR A BETTER DEAL FOR HIS OWN NATION?_

I know all you right wingers have no sense of humor (US spelling), so permit me to elaborate:
In the US, they say "back of the line". Not queue.
What he 's saying is that OBVIOUSLY a trade deal with a giant Nation containing 500 million people is more important and will come before a trade deal with a nation of 60 million people. And, Daniel Hannan (MEP) who took his joke seriously belongs in a mental institution, as well as confusing who helps who in wars. People like this should be ridiculed every day for the rest of their lives.
