Effective August 1st, all procedures for recruiting foreign workers, including the One-Stop Centre or OSC, have come under the purview of the Home Ministry

This change marks a significant shift, as the OSC, responsible for critical processes like quota applications, employer changes, and levy payment extensions, has moved from the Human Resources Ministry to the Home Ministry."

Sources say the reason for this move is to streamline recruitment and simplify the process for employers, as the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System now falls under the Home Ministry."

The New Straits Times was made to understand that the Human Resources Ministry, which was in charge of the OSC, is now only responsible for reviewing the eligibility of employers to hire foreign workers under Section 60K of the Employment Act and protecting the welfare of foreign workers during their time here.

The New Straits Times has reached out to both ministries for further comments.
