Thank you so much for your helpful video. I’m a single mother of three young boys and I have no parents or siblings or anyone in my life to do things like this for me. I do everything on my own and it’s not always easy either. But thanks to your video and very specific details I was able to change the camshaft position sensor on my car and i was only out money for the part. You also helped me teach my boys a very valuable lesson in the process and that means more to me than anything. So double thank you and may God bless you.

Hello and thank you. I replaced the part with an original replacement from Nissan. It was around $170.00.
So far so good! Thanks again.

I just did this job so thanks for the video. In my case, I had two engine shutdowns but no SES light. The codes said pending. I erased them twice but I figured I might as well get ahead of this issue.

Admittedly your hands must be smaller than mine as I had the hardest time working from the angle you did - I could only work from the firewall side. I can see why others remove the airbox to get better access. I also removed some of the metal connectors on the plenum so they would stop scratching my wrist.

After releasing the bolt, I had to also release a wire harness plug to get access to the sensor and connector.

I had a hard time getting the original part from the connector. Pushing down on the green tab eventually has it click into an open position but the sensor needed a bit more to release (original). The latest part number (according to Nissan) is 23731-6J90D. I went with the Nissan part given the Altima guy having issues with aftermarket. The new part was different in a few ways. It had a silver barrel that was slightly shorter and did not have any pattern embedded into it. It also had an earth magnet inside - not sure if the old one did - which presumably is used to detect the camshaft position.

There was some oil in the connector so I used some compressed air to blow out as much as I could and a paper towel to get what was left. Hope this helps anybody who comes after me.

I did not disconnect the battery but I should have just as a precaution. Car started up fine but only time will tell if this was the actual problem with the stalling.
