this is very helpful. I am a victim of reading word for word and finish without understanding. Thank you Jennifer.

"Visualization during reading helps with retention and retrieval" That's pure gold! Thx!

I literally just started reading. I’m 31. I wanted to see if it was just me who did this to retain. I am retaining all the important details just by visualizing everything I read. My retention dramatically increased. Absolutely love reading now for learning this trick. Now I am stumped by the vast amount of people who do this. Thank you

What I find interesting is that these lessons apply to children as much as they apply to adults.

Adulthood is full of jargon because we somewhat believe that clarity and imagination are childish 😅

Thank you for this Jennifer ❤

Awesome tip! Thank you for sharing it with us ... I definitely will be mindful of the importance of asking such questions for not only comprehension purposes but also for developing the ability of visualization.

Only as an adult did i ever consider that i was supposed to actively engage my imagination to read well. For me, im mostly considering the words, i usually think in words as well. When people talk to me, i listen to their words more than i imagine what they are saying and its not helpful sometimes

Aphantasia: A condition whereby a person CANNOT see visual images in their mind. In other terms it is called "a blind mind's eye." For people like me, visualizing is IMPOSSIBLE. What suggestions do you have for working with kids who also are incapable of visualizing.

This is how i see me: i have a mind. Thoughts and rambles and stuff go in there.
I have another mind, the UPPER mind, all pictures and imagination go there
I have another mind, the LOWER mind. All forgotten things go there
