Actually, there's another point to make there. I'm a fantasy fiction writer and a professional ghostwriter. When I was acquiring the skill of writing a book which was at 21, I was constantly dealing with crippling self-doubt because I was so far from where I wanted to be, all I wanted was to write good books. But now I'm getting paid full time to write books and now I find myself looking at your videos feeling the same self-doubt. He's so far ahead of me when we're literally the same age. So the point is, that self-doubt never goes away because it has nothing to do with your skill, it's a mindset problem. And self-doubt will consume you if you let it. The good thing is if you recognize that, you can nip that ugly monster in the bud early in your career and then you're golden, baby :) As always, stunning video Sterling.

Excellent! I'm an over thinker. It's one of the things I want to talk to people about on my YT channel. And it has led to delay in recording anything and aborted starts. Hearing and seeing your video is encouraging. Thanks!

Yeah I need the hours. You don't get better if you don't practice of course. If you have a vision just go for it!

In an age where we have all the information democratized to us we have no excuse to not do work. Again we have the opportunity to learn so much however it all depends on the quality of work and the time your spend on your work. This has the effect of being in a flow state where all attention is focused on the task at hand enriching the quality of life. Ironically our hard work is what fullfills ones self and while not all the activities seem fun to people it doesnt matter what activity it is. The fact that were learning and constantly improving is what makes the work so much better. As a random subscriber I'd like to thank you for your message and for your work its really awesome to see someone who is striving towards improvement. While that can be generally applied to anyone who puts in said work, I appreciate the quality you put into your videos thank you Sterling.

Good video. I need it. But I'm sure it'll really inspire a lot of young people who are blowing around like reeds in the wind.

I went and watched a few interviews and videos about Ira Glass and The Gap, and this concept of taste and talent has articulated this feeling I have felt forever and it is so incredibly frustrating and motivating simultaneously. and wanting to be able to create heaps of different things in different mediums HECK. I want to focus on Oil painting as a skill and medium but doesn't satisfy the craving to make create like making stuff digitally, or life drawing or industrial design which I study full time. flippen heck there is no satisfying the creative craving with the gap between talent and taste AAH

Damn! That was deep and sooo true! And yes, I am willing to bet that most people on your channel would watch the last part for 30 minutes. Don't know why but it's interesting;);)
