I definitely got vulnerable in this video... Should I make more content like this?🤔 Let me know!💖

(ALSO I'm thinking about making another video like this highlighting why it's so hard to break into the film & television industry. Would you be interested?)

One of the worst feelings as an actor is when you KNOW you killed the audition but don’t get that call back… you really have to be strong and keep pushing

I’m so glad she touched on this, because being a Actor isn’t just sunshines & rainbows. This really hit home!🤦🏿‍♂️🤍

I think some of the most frustrating things about the industry is how you're told you can't book roles because you don't have enough experience, but then through not booking those same roles you're still not gaining any experience. It just feels like sometimes the industry just keeps you stuck in an inescapable position which is so hard to break out of. I think other annoying experiences similar to this, would be when a casting call specifically says they are looking for someone who is relatively new to the industry, so you think you may have a chance, but then you read the cast announcement and the role you auditioned for is being played by an actor who isn't new to the industry at all. Even though you know it's not their fault, you can't help but feel annoyed, because it just feels like nothing is working out.

Makayla your content is always great but this video was truly exceptional! Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing the truth about the industry. I was already an adult (26) when I first started so I didn't go through some of the things you did. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to hear your friends say "you only had two lines" at such a young age. Honestly, I still find it hard to respond when a family member asks "why haven't we seen you on tv in a while?" 🤣🙄. Keep up the great work! Hope to see you on set one day! *red carpet*

I love how honest this is. As a fellow actor and indie filmmaker, it's really hard and you just have to keep going and push through the insecurity & doubt. Thanks Makayla.

I'm actor that started in my mid 30's and I'm coming upon my 40th birthday and this resonated so much with me. People always say start young, but it's hard to get a foot in at any age. First, I couldn't find an agent. Then when I found one, I still couldn't book even though I was getting more auditions and better auditions. I'm still struggling. And what's worse is that I'm not even a union actor yet. It sucks. But I've learned to fill my free time with hobbies that I enjoy and stop this 24/7 acting crunch. It seems like the less I care the more things happen for me which is weird. LOL!

I always tell people that acting can very much be a blue collar job. There will never be a moment where you won’t be searching for the next job (unless you land a regular tv gig). That’s why I also say to pursue it if you love the craft; not if you love fame.

I totally relate to this! Sometimes I dont even like to tell people when I book so called 'small roles" because people outside the industry dont understand that not everyone is going to immediately book a Blockbuster film and inadvertently diminish your accomplishments by saying things like "oh you only had one line"

This is the thing they don't teach you in Acting school. Me and some friends talk about this alot! Stay strong every one that is still pushing, it's not easy to keep going bit we can do this. 💯❤

as a filmmaker with a lot of actor friends, i see this all the time. these are the people i see crying the most and it breaks my heart how hard it is for some of them. what i keep telling them and what i think ultimately can keep people going is having a true passion for the art. if you've gotten into acting because it seems like an easy job or because you wanna make money quick you're in for a rude awakening, especially nowadays with the general diminishment of the art because of streaming services. as someone who knows the flip side i can confirm that it really isn't about you most of the time. it's about catering to a very specific vision that you either fit into or don't. feeling fulfilled in a job like this really ultimately boils down to how much fire you have within you for the craft. and most importantly, this is true of any job. especially in the beginning. there is constant rejection and hard work, bad days, ungratefulness, diminishing of value, but as long as you want it bad enough it never feels like wasted effort. you just have to keep your eyes fixed on why you're doing it.

Hey girl I recently got signed with an agency, was in a commercial and is currently a SA in a Netflix series however, I’m so grateful for all ur videos and especially this one.

People are so blinded by the glitz and glam (myself included) so they actually don’t see the evil and darkness within Hollywood.😔💔

Anyway I hope everyone reading this is successful in the coming future 💕💕

Being an actor is so difficult especially when you live in a small country that doesn't have as many opportunities. I go to the theater and I'm currently looking for a good agency, but it's so hard. But still... I loved the video, you're an inspiring person and you've already taught me so much! love u

Hey Makayla, I haven't started my acting journey yet. There are some roadblocks like telling my parents, losing weight, saving money for classes. So I feel a bit behind and guilty too. Thanks for being so truthful. The video helped with some of the shitty feeling I have been feeling.

10:10 “there’s just things you don’t understand but you will later on”
It’s so good to hear this especially from someone so young. There so much I want clarity on both personally and in my acting career right now. I needed this message!
