FDA escalates recall on Costco eggs to highest alert

The Food and Drug Administration has further raised the red flag on some eggs distributed to Costco locations linked to possible salmonella exposure.

Situations like this were rare back when agriculture was local and based on the community, but when it happened it only happened to a few people and the community knew who was at fault.

Now, when there's a problem, it affects the whole population even though the reasoning for creating the FDA and transferring our agriculture to large mega corporation operations was to ensure that even a few food poisoning incidents wouldn't happen.

Salmonella poison is not just diarrhea, fever, and nausea. In extreme cases or in people with compromised health such as the elderlies, it could cause organ failure.

I went grocery shopping on Christmas Eve and the two stores (not Costco) I went to, didn't even have any eggs, period. I am sure if I went to more stores I could probably have found some expensive eggs eventually, but the problem out here is bird flu besides the usually reduced winter production. Luckily we are on the west coast so not affected by this particular Costco recall. There was a recall launched by a Costco egg producer I thought was from upstate New York (I could be wrong) a month or two ago. Handsome Brook Farms is actually chain of farms from Indiana and around there, and they do have a recall on their website for exactly a month ago: November 27.
