Marie-Pier Berman, Vice President & Chief of Operations - NAV CANADA

Marie-Pier, or MP, began her love for aviation at a very young age, with both parents who were pilots and grandfather who operated an airport. She took the flight controls for the first time at 12 and decided to become a commercial pilot right out of high school. In 2003, after flying commercially for a few years, MP began a new step in her aviation career with NAV Canada, as an IFR Controller in Winnipeg.

Since then she has held successive roles as Unit Procedures Specialist, Shift Manager, Manager of Operational Training, MACCO, and GMFIR. From 2020 to 2022, she served as Assistant Vice President, ATS Service Delivery before moving into the VP & COO position. MP is responsible for providing tactical and strategic leadership for the Operations group overseeing the delivery of NAV CANADA’s air traffic services (ATS). In addition, she leads the development and implementation of programs, procedures, and practices including ATS Standards, Flight Operations, and Aeronautical Information Management (AIM), ensuring that business initiatives are aligned with corporate objectives and integrated to deliver value to NAV CANADA’s customers.

MP has also been actively involved in her community with United Way and is a Board member of a Provincial Sport Organization in Manitoba. MP has always demonstrated positivity and a strong vision for the collective future, cares for people, and knows how to achieve incredible things.
