Im 65yrs old and for the last 14 months my psa is 12.4. My Urologist sent me for an MRI scan and the results came back as inflammation and enlarged prostrate which is the reason for high psa level. Urologist told me i have prostatitis and no cancer showing on MRI scan. I asked for a biopsy and was told it would be a waste of time as their is nothing to target the biopsy needle as its clear.
Im a little concerned as both my Dad and Grandad both passed away with prostrate cancer.
I pondering on the thought of paying privately to have my prostrate removed as its giving me much worry.
I had another psa blood test yesterday 2 months after my last blood test so praying the psa levels have dropped. Results next week 🙏

My urologist done a biopsy because my psa went from 4.5 to 5.9 he said he would do 12 core samples. I had it done in the hospital and was put to sleep when i woke up in the recovery room he said he done 21 core samples and wanted me to come back to his office in about a week for the results he told me that 2 samples came back positive a Gleason 6 he sent the samples off to a lab that looks at them on a molecular level he said come back to his office in 2 weeks for the results when i went back he said the results showed it was a very very low grade cancer he said i was more likely to get killed in a car accident than this cancer would kill me but he sent me for an MRI and he said it looked good he didn't see anything of concern so he just wants to do active surveillance every 3 months my psa has stayed about the same but now he wants to do another MRI he said to make sure he didn't miss anything and he said he might want to do another biopsy. It makes me wonder is he just doing all of this for the money? I do have an enlarged prostate and get up about 6 to 8 times a night to pee and he has giving me all the terrible medicine to try alfuzosin and two others they help to have a better stream and get up less to pee but the side effects are terrible when I was taking the alfuzosin i could hardly move the next day I was so tired i felt like I was 100 years old. He said if this second MRI comes back ok he would just want me to just come back every 6 months instead of every 3 months. But now I worry alot before I went to the urologist I didn't worry about anything but now that he says i have Gleason 6 cancer i worry about it. I guess it's just part of getting older. If you're reading this good luck to you and just hang in there and love every day and your loved ones.

I’m 65 and my PSA climbed to over 100. I was taking Ivermechtin, fenbendazole and Soursop tea regularly. My doctor had me do two Pet scans, two CT scans and a full body bone scan and they found NO cancer. The even did a biopsy on a suspicious node and it came up clean. The No have me on hormone shots quarterly and PSA dropped to 1.35

My PSA doubled from a year ago to now being 2.97. Back in 2008 I had it extreme at 36 but proved to be an infection. But at the moment it has slowly risen over the last couple of years. What annoys me is the waiting time to see specialists. I have some symptoms down there similar to 2008 but this time being a much lower reading albeit doubling since a year ago. So, with an appointment in mid June means spending time worrying without any answers. So frustrating!

I got sent to a urologist for a biopsy at age 66 when a DRE came back suspicious. A subsequent PSA test (the GP who did the DRE refused to authorize it) came back 2.7. I had Gleason 8 prostate cancer with a PSA reading of only 2.7. Think about that. Don't stop with the PSA test. Get that fickle finger DRE too. Yeah not fun but it saved me from allowing that cancer to continue to develop. I was treated (HIFU surgery) and I am doing fine 8 years later.

I'll be 74 next month. I've had high PSA results for over 25 years. A biopsy done 25 years ago was negative. In 2013, I went to the hospital to have a cardiac ablation done for A-FIB. Upon release, I couldn't pass urine at all and had to be catheterized for 30 days and given antibiotics. I had another biopsy done and it was again negative. Recently, my PSA crossed some threshold and I went to a urologist. Eventually, I had a prostate MRI done and the results showed that cancer was "unlikely". The urologist seemed to ignore that and wants to do a biopsy. This sounds like he's trying to cover his ass, or it's just a money-grab. The PSA dropped, but he didn't care. I'm getting too old for this bullshit. I'll continue to get the PSA test, but it better be much higher before I do anything.

PSA levels are affected by both total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol. PC patients often get dramatic drops in PSA after starting statins.
Possibly but not definitive that large doses of D3 can affect PSA levels as D3 and cholesterol share the same metabolic pathways. D3 has shown reductions in positive cores on biopsies but no effect on PSA? PMSA PET scans are a better marker for PC than PSA.

PSA Alone is not the criteria for ascertaining the possibility of Cancer because PSA levels sometimes increases due to high fever or urine infections too.

I am surprised that we don’t have scientist doing test on people who exercise ( running, biking) to make the public understand what raises the psa. I’ve had doctors since 1995 telling me how bad my results are. Not one doctor asked what exercise I do!

I am 63 and arguably in the best shape of my Life, all around. I eat clean, go to the gym every other day (where I do a fierce work out that puts men half my age to shame!), and though i used to drink (rather heavily), i do not consume alcohol, dont smoke, and take no prescrip meds. I had a PSA of 15.75, so the urologist told me to re-do. Did it a week later and it was 17.17. I am sure he will want to proceed with an MRI. . . And then?---

Since this video did not answer the question that it said it would it would answer, I'll take a shot at it: I know doctors who have patients with PSAs in the 50s who were determined not to have cancer so we know that number is possible

My psa was 6.1, age 41. Trouble urinating, some pain. No uti detected. I was also taking to tongkat ali which helped me build bigger muscles and stayed very hard but stopped that almost two weeks ago after my results. What do you think?

Please help I have just completed 26 rounds of radiation therapy (a month ago) when I started my PSA was 13.4
I just went back to have it tested after the radiation therapy and it jumped to 33. My Doctor thought it was a mistake and had me do another one 2 days later and it jump up to 34.6 Do you have any idea what could be the cause???? Please give it to me straight… Thanks

As an Old Timer I haven't meant a "PSA" Doctor that I would trust and I've seen a few of them. Just remember the 70's, then make your decision!!!

My opinon: If they are not slicing & dicing they can't have a high standard of living.
Just Remember the 70's before you make your decisions.
