MiniLive #2: Coconut Sugar Scrub - This video is part of a series of Facebook Live videos I did in which I share quick things I do to make my life a little simpler and a little greener.
While there are endless variations of Coconut Sugar Scrubs, and I certainly didn’t come up with the concept, this is one I use quite often. This scrub exfoliates, softens, and moisturizes. As an extra bonus, my kids tell me it tastes fabulous.
To make, simply mix 2 parts sugar to 1 part coconut oil in an air-tight container. That's it!
Use any kind of sugar... granulated, Turbinado (aka “raw”), brown, superfine… Any of them work great in a scrub. Decide based on preference and purpose. The more coarse the sugar, the more exfoliating the scrub. Vary the amount of sugar based on how thick you want the scrub--less sugar for a liquidier scrub or more for a looser scrub.
Adding essential oils (EOs) is a great way to create a custom scent. Choose the EOs that makes you happy and suits your purpose. Peppermint to invigorate, lavender to calm, citrus to inspire. Whatever works for you. Or none at all! A naked scrub in its simplest form. Just make sure they’re pure essential oils and not diluted in a carrier oil. How much to add will depend on how much scrub to make. For a scrub with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup coconut oil, start with 20 drops. Add more for a stronger scent.
