Officially known as the Millennium Dam, and often regarded as the Hidase Dam, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is found on the Blue and is a gravity dam in Ethiopia whose construction began in 2011. It is located in Benishangul-Gumuz, 45km east of the border with Sudan. Before we see how the gravity dam almost emptied the Nile, it is important that we understand the background of this grand establishment. During the Blue Nile survey between 1956 and 1954, in the reign of Haile Selassie, the United States Bureau of Reclamation carried out a survey on the Blue Nile and discovered a suitable site for the Grand Renaissance dam. The project failed to grow due to the 1974 coup d'état and the 17-year-long Ethiopian Civil War.

Misleading title as the dam never affects the downstream countries.

Can you answer the question of your title please? The GERD didn't affect any water flow the downstream countries expect each year.

In the first place correct the title . Who stole the Nile ? As far as Ethiopia is concerned, it is trying to use its resources deprived by colonial Britain and its hier Egypt . Egypt has been behind all Ethiopia's problems engineering unimaginable conspiracy like the British, its political masters .That is Why it cries again and again our historical share shall never be touched leaving not a single drop for Ethiopia . This is unacceptable at all grounds . Egypt doesn't deserve a single drop more than its share . 👍🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹

Please change the silly and misleading title of your video.Obviously you have no knowledge about Abay except from what you read from Internet. Afterall Ethiopians are building a dam on Abay, not Nile.- a river 100% Ethiopian.

It is unbecoming of your name 'Thinkrich Africa' and then use such cheap and misleading title like emptying the Nile!. The presentation, and definitely the research is rather sophomoric.

the Dam is simply for the production of electricity., so that doesn't affect any water flow in the down strim countries like Sudan and Egypt

How many dollars are paid for you from the downstream countries? Be genuine rather than distributing false information please...

Egypts has lost the position, as the ruler off the Nile. Egypts hope is to: Save water. 2. Use water smart. 3. Use off their 6 500 000 000 000 m3 grundwater recource. 4. Talk to DCR, about buying water form The Congo. It`s easy to move water from The Congo. This river is 16, 1 times "bigger" than The Nile River.

Ethiopia is building the dam on ABBAY river not on Nile. You make a big mistake here and doesn't know the whole story.

It’s a shame that you had to stoop to using a fake title to get people to watch your advertisement for GERD. I will definitely not be subscribing to your channel!
