What Was the Ghost Army?

Показать описание
In March 1945, a vast army of American tanks, trucks, and troop carriers staged on the edge of the Rhine. As the Americans conspicuously arranged their vehicles and equipment along the last major geographical obstacle between the Allied advance and Berlin, the German defenders took notice. They scrambled to rearrange their defenses and engaged the fleet of tanks before them. But the army of American vehicles they were shooting at didn’t actually exist. What the Germans saw was a formation of inflatable tanks and trucks — a “Ghost Army.”

These are the most interesting educational videos of the military unknown side to the public.

I've seen documentaries on this group before. We have one and a book or two in my local library about them. The documentary was great. It interviewed surviving members and showed the artwork they did as they made their way through Europe. They had some great stories, like the man who tried to return a movie they borrowed from a town. When they tried to get in, they were blocked and told to turn around and get out quickly. The town, Bastogne, was about to be surrounded.

I just recently found out my dad was in the ghost army. He was killed in an auto accident in 1966. I was 6 years old. I would appreciate any info related to Thomas Delaney Bryson from Williamsburg Iowa.

My father was part of the Ghost Army, never ever talked about.any of it, even tho it was declassified after 50 years. Family found out by accident. I asked him what he did in europe while he was sooo sick. He passed keeping his oath not to talk about it

I love these historical videos. Especially the WWII ones. Even if I know about the subject, I usually learn something about each one. 'Preciate it!

Wow! A truly interesting and educational video about a subject that makes one wonder why it was kept a secret for so long! It was out-of-the-box thinking that saved lives!

I love this. Always liked how someone can fight and potentially win without fighting. But through means of deception, like home alone hah

I remeber my selfie by the lithouse laundry mat in Federal Way. Used to be red, until it became black.
