How to adjust ride height & corner balance your car - KW Suspension DDC - Technik - GTChannel

Technik and GTChannel show you how to set up the KW Suspension DDC using our project BMW E92 M3. We changed our wheels and tires to a square set up and in doing so raised the front ride height. This changed the handling characteristics. By putting on the DDC coilovers we were able to adjust the ride height and more importantly regain the stock corner weights despite the taller front tires.

Robert Choo lends us his expertise and garage to do the adjustments.

This was the FIRST video that went in DETAIL on how to do the coils....adjustments and all!! Which is what I was looking for. GREAT JOB!!!

Most people only care for the lowering and automatically think it will handle better, but in reality they just ruin their geometry...Very good video!

Worth mentioning that when doing corner weights the droplinks/end links should be removed. Then once corner weights are set they should be replaced with adjustable drop links. This ensures there is no pre load in anti roll bars 👍🏻

Nice to see someone actually care about weight balancing, CoG, setting up for load transfer, etc.  Often you see guys just going for nothing else but aesthetics, and in the process they (often unknowingly) ruin the geometry and handling of the car.

20mm in the rear is perfect. That’s what most companies recommend. People who just try to close the gap are ruining their suspension geometry. Thanks for the video. I was curious about the process of corner balancing.

What do you guys charge for an alignment and corner balance? Or what does this procedure usually run for?

Missed just one minor, yet important detail. Check you tire pressure first of all.

It's not required but to get the most out of coilovers it's suggested. They're not cheap (over a 1000) but you can sometimes rent them and shops offer corner balancing services.

This actually helped a lot, I think I have a good idea on how to do it because of this video

i have questions... some things you did cover, but i want to be sure...1. what should be done first, the corner balancing or the alignment? 2. do the sway bars have to be disconnected? 3. should you add weight to simulate possible passengers? 4. lastly, should the static ride height be decided before the corner balancing? thanks in advance

JAVIER GUTIERREZ, Rob is in SoCal. There are a lot of shops that will do corner balancing. Look up BMW race prep shops or most motorsport prep shops.

Just bought these, having them installed at a shop though. Can't wait to see how she rides after it's all set up!!

learned a lot. when i do my suspension, every time i jack up my car, the wheel would drop camber wise and when i drop it, it would stay camber. So i drive in back and forth to even it out to get a perfect measurement. it is just my tips with suspension but im no pro.

Did you undo the swaybar links. We do when we corner are race cars it make a big difference in corner weights I've seen 400lb difference. Cause the suspension binds.

Kind of. It's ride height adjustable but the spring is not on the shock body.

Great video. Nice to have a friend who can help out with setups like these.

How did you manage to adjust the rears without having the perch rotating togehter with the ring? I have to diassemble the lower control arm to adjust the rears on my car.

NICE!! Great video. The fact that so many kids lower their cars and dont understand what their really doing to it. Then wonder why they wipe out and crash. Even a lot of shops dont do this, lot of half assed people out there.

If straight line speed were our goal then yes. I (Brian) wanted a car with some luxury than can also handle well off and on the track. The Shelby is fast but it's not quiet or remotely comfortable. The M3 is my daily driver and it makes my commute super cushy and yet I can still go drive the canyons and have a blast.
