Best part of this game was when Suzuki Escudo said "It's Gran Turismin' time" and then Sunday Cupped all over the GT Mode

The graphics jump from PS1 era to PS2 era is absolutely insane. GT3 looks SO, SO much better than GT 2 it's nuts.

The soundtrack was legendary, but so were the menu noises. It may seem like an odd thing to point out, but for some reason, those noises really made the game for me. When I played it as a kid, the noises and the music were what stood out the most to me, and when I came back to the game 20 years later, that's what I remembered.

The graphics jump from GT2 to GT3 will never be topped.

Big moment to remember and appreciate how fucking nuts the soundtrack of GT is. Licensed and composed music is unmatched combined in the racing game genre

Another comprehensive and well made video, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one. Always a pleasure to learn more about the GT series considering I never got to play any of them back in my time. Props to you and your editor for this amazing video! 👍

I remember the first time I played this and I saw the heat effect radiating from the tarmac.

I always found GT3 to be special. Sure, it has way less cars and tracks than GT2 - While being more restrictive than the previous with its events. But I happen to enjoy the event structure, specially how it's divided on three different leagues where some events are repeated. It's a bit of a waste to do things like drivetrain challenges with a bunch of starter cars, you miss out on so many cars. While yes, it has shortcomings like any piece of media, it has its charm and I always enjoy coming back to it (minus those test track events) About tire wear, I find it's tied to each car and some are better than others. I don't really think tires can be managed in these classic GT games, the best bet is building a gap which allows you to cover your pitstop. Or play the pit strategy game with the AI.

Attention: I think you have confused petrol with engine oil; when the fuel is interactively displayed in the game?

I remember back in the day that this game was included in the box with my PS2. I still remember wasting so many hours playing the rally races and trying to drift every single car in this game as a kid.

Also, the "Are You Gonna Go My Way" song lives rent free inside of my head, because of this game.

I got Gran Turismo 3 for Christmas 2002, and it was one of, if not, the first PS2 game I've ever played. It was my first Gran Turismo game as well. I was 6 and it blew my mind. I fell in love with the game, and had to have Gran Turismo 4 when it came out, and I got even more obsessed with that game. I can say with certainty that Gran Turismo 3 and subsequently 4 helped me in the long run when it came time to learn how to drive in real life. And the music definitely has shaped my music tastes. Now revisiting and discovering a lot of jazz/jazz fusion as an adult. Gran Turismo 3 was really ahead of its time, and so was 4. I've replayed them both a couple years ago, and they're still impressive. The lack of damage physics always bothered me too.

The music was awesome. Soon as I heard that arcade mode music I felt like I was sitting down in front of my box TV ready to play haha.

The soundtrack on GT3🔥 I can hear “never enough” playing right now while racing on the super speedway, got me into Papa Roach also that Powerman 5000 song “supernova goes pop”

Nostalgia kicked in, when you mentioned christmas, Cause in 2003 the same exact thing happened to me. I was 5 when my parents told us to come down to the cristmash tree, cause under it was our gifts, and it was a brand new PS2 fat, and my first ever game, GT3. My ps2 still works today, i even use it sometimes, but saddly my gt3 disc got so scratched, i cant play with it anymore. but still, that one bit brought back many memoires, and i'm so thankful for you and for this video.

I don't play GT3 anymore, but I did enjoy my time with it over the years and I appreciate it for introducing me to the world of cars and racing games in general. The fact that it's still gets talked about 20+ years later is a testament to how groundbreaking it was back in 2001.

Only negatives I have about it though are these:

·Test Course being overused in Simulation Mode (16 TIMES iirc) when it should've only been used for Like the Wind (which is a 20 LAP RACE smh)
·No new oval track that's half a mile in length. GT1 had 1 oval, GT2 had 2 ovals, but GT3 doesn't get 3?
·The Corvette C5R and Camaro LM use 4cylinder sounds despite being powered by V8s.
·Super Speedway (uninspiring name btw) looks so lifeless compared to its GT2 version. Same goes for Test Course.

Not much else to say.
