Clutch. The mapping isn’t an issue when your using the clutch like your supposed to.

I think the off throttle "click" that you are hearing is actually the PAIR Valve solenoid. When decelerating and a closed throttle the ECU cuts off the fuel and opens the PAIR valve between the valve cover and air box to "re burn" those gasses. That system can be removed, but you will get a check engine light, although people have found ways to trick the ECU with a resistor.

Waiting on my 300L that’s on the way now but point number one is so true about my 450RL as well. Been riding up and down mountain trails and have to use the clutch constantly. The gas shut off is unbelievably annoying. Yes, you get use to it and can use the clutch constantly but I’m about to just fix it by removing whatever I need too. 🙂

My friend Jimmy (i consider you my friend becuase you save me !) i was very close to buy the new CRFL300 and I knew i have to deal with no adjusteble cheap suspension, low horse power for 300 c.c. and heavy weight but after this video i find out more. Sure for me is a dealbreaker. Great honest video.

Like you said “you get used to it” I love my CRF, it’s a great Greenlaner. 🙂

My bike also needed a throttle cable adjustment. Helped a lot, but I definitely know what you mean about the on off power, especially in 1st. I'm sure you've figured out the gas cap by now. Pressing the cap down will trip the key into locked position.

The gas cap, you just ignore the key and push it on until the key turns and lock the cap for you. No problem with that. Other than that, nice channel and I'm happy to see you mostly enjoy it. I sure enjoy mine, and it's a very different bike compared to my 250, no question about it. Do the break in period and get used to it, then you'll enjoy it 😉

I've never put the gas nozzle all the way in on any of my bikes. Never once trusted the click. I've owned about 15 different bikes

Throw on an adjustable short clutch lever, they're excellent.

I have had zero issues with it so far. Shifting gears is soo easy on it and it feels really smooth for me. Downshifting is a dream, no hopping at all. You just need a smooth hand on the throttle and everything is alright.

I have a 2021 Honda CT125 and it has the same issue on the throttle. When the warranty is out I'm gonna tune that junk out of it. I've already slung the converters down through the woods and put some exhaust on it. As if a 125 is going to melt polar ice caps. Thanks for the video man, one of these is on my radar!

I have a 300 L with 50 miles and the snatchy throttle in first gear is awful. Noticed that there is free play in the throttle cables when closed. Has anyone else dealt with this? Thinking of adjusting out the play

People not knowing this bike has a different fuel map when in idle mode which screws with the on/off mapping as told. Nothing wrong with his throttle or cable

One way is to tame the throttle overall. Get a spare throttle tube (in case you mess up the original) and you can cut away a bit of plastic from the ring that throttle cable sits on. With decreasing the radius of it, you decrease the ratio of how much throttle cable actually moves when manipulating throttle. In essence - bigger radius on cable equates to more sensitivity and smaller radius (cut down throttle tube) equates to less sensitive throttle. You can also sculpt a variable rate throttle tube in that way. Check out G2 Ergonomics to see what I am on about.

I ordered one from G2 to my V-Strom1000, but US -> Europe package delivery was a mess at the time and eventually ended up doing one by myself from spare throttle tube. And it got a bit smoother response now, on and off throttle (although full close is still abrupt). But with that, you kind of lose a bit of punch as well since you have to twist your wrist a bit more, to move throttle cable same amount as before. But you get used to it (more wrist!) and I haven't even thought of using the original tube again.

I also have the Booster Plug, a little sensor that goes in between air box temperature sensor and ECU. Essentially it just lies to ECU that outside temperature is about 30C colder so ECU makes the mixture a bit richer and should eliminate snappiness that is caused by lean mixture. Suppose it also helps a bit, but not all that noticeable in my opinion.

I rode a KTM 250 EXC-F a bit and the throttle felt the same as yours. I think it's normal, gotta just gotta use the clutch more.

The two bars in the gas tank are there on the 250 as well, im in Australia so the pull back thing is like 2nd nature, when you put the cap back on, use your two thumbs on either side of the cap to click it back in. Might have to get an aftermarket exhaust and header for more oommphh, don't get a fuel controller, they are a waste of money but I already had one on my 250l. :)

Also whenever you let off the throttle, and then get back on it as well as hearing it, you can feel it. The choppy throttle is awful.

The #1 thing that pisses me off with the fuel cap is the lack of hinge... If it doesn't have a vent tube to hang the cap off, it should have a hinge ;-)

Jerky throttle is not good. Must be a pain on steep hill climbs? The CRF450L had the same issue so most buyers ended up changing ECU etc. Is this a Honda thing or Euro emissions thing?

In 50 years of riding I have never once put the pump nozzle into a motorcycle tank. Sorry but that’s just a basic bike fundamental all riders should know. Pull the boot back and control it to the last drop.
