Blacksmithing - Forging a Center punch from Coil spring

Simple center punch I made because I needed one and also to test out some Parks 50 quenching oil I bought, just to get a feel for it, works crazy good of course. tested it on some mild steel to which is very soft, so it held up perfect of course. Real test comes later with harder high carbon steels but should hold up alright I think.
First video from the new workshop in Quebec. Still figuring out a bunch of stuff that comes with filming and working in a very different environment. First couple of videos might be a bit odd until I get used to it!

That's actually a requirement for the scouts that ant to do the Blacksmithing merit badge in the BSA. I go around to shops for a few days around town that might have coil springs and I get several together and then cut them up and give them to the scouts. They have to do the shaping, hardening, and tempering of the tool.

When heat treating your tools, what kind of oil do you use? I mean, you use like a specific type of oil or you can even use other oils like olive oil?

when I make a pimple or punch, I test them for an anvil, not a piece of iron
