“I’m sticking this through. I’m proud of having taken the job.”

Boeing CEO David Calhoun defended the company’s safety record during a contentious Senate hearing last week, while lawmakers accused him of placing profits over safety, failing to protect whistleblowers, and even getting paid too much.

Relatives of people who died in two crashes of Boeing 737 Max jetliners were in the room, some holding photos of their loved ones, to remind the CEO of the stakes. Calhoun began his remarks by standing, turning to face the families, and apologizing “for the grief that we have caused,” and vowing to focus on safety.

“I am proud of every action we have taken,” Calhoun said.

They haven’t turned a profit in 6 years, how were they paying this man, and his cronies, anywhere near that sum? I can appreciate that a good CEO should be well paid, but this tool never earned a cent in profit during his entire tenure. Cowboy organisation using public money and debt to pay exorbitant, unjustifiable salaries.

The workers have been on strike for 7 weeks. (Go machinists) their sticking point is Boeing refuses to reinstate its old pension plan. It states it’s too expensive. Well maybe one expense they can start with cutting is his salary. From stamping to final that guy adds 0 dollars of added value. If you took some of his pay you could use it to pay for the pensions of the people who pay your salary by building your jets.
