Thank you for this. I finally installed Cubase 14 today and panicked when many plugins were disabled.

Oh my god, this video just saved me! 🙏 I've been struggling with plugins for a few days now, and I couldn't figure it out. And this is such a miracle! 🤯

The title of the video is a godsend! All the steps are shown in such detail that even I managed without problems! 🎉

Now I have all the plugins working like clockwork and I can safely continue creating! 🤩 Thank you so much to the author for this masterpiece! 🙏

Thanks. Didn't even see that option at the bottom of the plugin manager.

What do you do if the "VST2" button doesn't appear in the plugin manager window?

thanks much. Going to Cubase 14, some of my nonCubase VST3 instruments and FX weren't recognized (eg Phase Plant & Cableguys). After the Studiosetup scanning, they popped up in the list of VST2 stuff. I also went in and rescanned my folders from MediaBay. Now they appear in the project. But it's disturbing that those particular VST3 weren't showing until I did all this. Since I did both those steps THEN checked to see if they were available, I'm not sure whether it was the StudioSetup step or the MediaBay rescan step that fixed it. ? And thanks for that tip about keeping "on" to show the three strips for VST3 reference--I did panic when I didn't see those. Thanks so much!

So, hardware based UAD plugins may not be used natively on silicon Mac but may be re-enabled in Windows 11?

Easy solution is to use vst system link, i still use 32 bit plug-in instruments and vst 2, even running tc electronic powercores this way. Perfect.

I will never give up my old Absynth 5. There are so many very good sounds who you can never find in other Plugins.
Now i have find out my iCon QConProX Controllsuface is in Cubase 14 at the moment no more working. If Cubase 14 renders
my QConProX useless, then i will stay with Cubase 13 for Ever !!!

VST3 is available since 2011. Plugins vendros had time to upgrade them.

I believe they wrote in a post that vst2 support in "steinberg hosts" will be available for another 24 months (~ fall 2026) after the release of cubase 14. I hope by then I can migrate my older projects that rely on vst2 with no vst3 alternative available in some shape or form.presumably I have to render the results into audio tracks.
this feels as wrong as working destructively in davinci resolve, photoshop or affinity photo.
there is a difference between tweaking the midi data feeding a VSTi and turn some knows to change the sound or working with baked audio data that has basically lost it's origin and history.

Metaplugin will allow VST2 in a VST3 wrapper. Steinberg can't force them out completely.
