Some people know what Air Recirculation Button does in a car. Some don't so much. How do you use it? Stay cool out there! Jeff

I’ve always used that button. It seems to help keep out any exhaust smells from other vehicles. I always use a sunshade, a must in the Florida heat.

Also is good to use it when in a traffic jam to avoid inhaling the exhaust of the other cars!

Fresh air mode brings in air from the outside via the vents at the bottom of the windshield. Recirculation mode uses the air in the cabin. When starting your car up on a hot day turn on the A/C in fresh air mode first and roll the windows down and start driving. Then after the cabin is getting cool switch to recirculation mode and roll your windows up. Now you will be using and reusing the cool air in the cabin. Be careful not to constantly leave your HVAC in recirculation mode as mold can build up in your evaporator core and you'll start getting a musty smell inside your car. Occasionally switch to fresh air mode to prevent this from occurring.

Got to love Mom! I purchased a fitted windshield sunscreen for my brand new 2019 Avalon. I'm so glad I did! Thanks, Jeff!

Generally good advice but for gosh sakes, don't park under a Spruce or Pine tree . The tar that drips from them will never come off your paint.

I've got a custom one for my car from the the Toyota dealer. It's thicker than the usual cheap generic ones you find and it's meant to fit the exact dimensions and curves of your front glass. You also forgot mention that sunshades help prevent fading and cracking of your dash in addition to it keeping your steering wheel a little bit cooler. I go overboard and cover the steering wheel with a beach towel while I'm at work or whatever.

Tinting your windows is a great way to keep the inside of your car cool. They block out like 80% of heat. They also make tint that is clean for the windshield but still blocks heat and UV rays

I usually turn it off while on the high way, I like having some fresh air come in. But when I get into my car I always roll all the windows down and turn the ac on full blast

Just understand "Recirculate" is NOT for heating conditions.  Using it then will fog the windows and people in the back seat will be cold because the heat stays up front.  And it will not heat your interior faster.  Also bear in mind "Recirculate" stops fresh air coming in, so on a longer drive switch back to "Fresh" periodically to keep from getting drowsy.

When you set on auto, it is cold out, and the car automatically starts to heat. But if the ac is clicked on, does that damage?
