The whole situation is confusing as fuck.
On one hand, Garry Newman says he was assured that the takedowns were legitimate. But on the other hand, people say that there is overwhelming evidence that it's Aaron Peters, a known copyright fraudster.
And even if it really is Nintendo, then why wait so long to do this? GMod has always been an insanely popular game with a large influence on internet culture. Surely they would've taken notice 20 years ago.

My opinion on Nintendo in general is “love the devs, hate the legal department.” Like Nintendo has so many games I love made by very talented people, and to give the suits some credit they genuinely treat their devs like actual human beings and not fodder to fire whenever, but man their legal department needs to chill out already.
