One feature I used all the time back in the day was the ability to upload pictures directly to Facebook from the DSi camera app. I never see anyone mention that feature, but as a kid too young to use Facebook in the early 2010s I was very happy with it and thought it was the coolest thing ever. I still have the album on my account from back then that it made with all the pictures I uploaded from the console itself.

as someone born in 2006 i got a brand new dsi for my 5th birthday and i instantly fell in love with it to the point where my momma got me the dsi xl when it came out for christmas i had that dsi xl until very recently when it just vanished and im so devastated but i still have the og dsi which im modding today and im exited to go through the nostalgia trip

I remember getting a black one on launch day as an early birthday present, I don't think I've ever been so hyped for a video game console. I had a Lite before and the DSi felt like such a massive upgrade. Logged countless hours of game play on both of them and the DSi will always be my favorite, I even prefer it to the 3DS. It was also fun flexing the rainbow colored ink on PictoChat in the early days lmao.

I still have mine, I asked for it back then for my 10th birthday or so, idk but it was the year it released. Honestly I was a bit dissapointed because I thought it was a new console, I already had the ds lite so It was a bit of a waste xd. Still it was super cool and as you said you could have a lot of fun only with the camera and and the audio recorder and specially the flipnote studio. A week or so ago I discovered the youtube channel of one of the animators I used to watch in the flipnote studio when I was a kid, it was really cool to hear what flipnote meant to him. I also have pictures with my friend from when we were in the school and we didn't have a single thing to worry about, and pictures of a trip with my father, I could say that the dsi was my first camera. I also have memories with the dsi that I will never forget :). Thanks for bringing them back.

But yeah, I love the DSi to death, I still have the one I got for my 12th birthday in 2011- when the 3DS had already released, but my dad had heard they were giving kids headaches and opted for the DSi instead. (I didn't get a 3DS until just last year, actually- an OG pink model for just about 100 USD. They're a little bit cheaper than the New models if you don't mind a bit of a hardware downgrade and no C stick) I got TwilightMenu on this bad boy and it can play just about any game I'd realistically want it to.
This decade-plus-old console is probably one of my most prized possessions, even more so than any of my other, newer electronics. I'd probably feel just the same way about my old DS Lite that I got when I was about 6, *if I still had it.* Poor thing and all its games got lost some years before I got the DSi, most heartbreakingly my Animal Crossing Wild World cartridge. Unless a miracle happens, I'll never see that town ever again...
