I had experienced this. got rolled into the ER with this exact pain down both legs. Seemingly normal 30 yr. old with extreme pain with no trauma accident. I was in tears asking for an MRI and was denied because I wasn't in a traumatic event. I called my ortho & told his staff what was going on & they immediately ordered an MRI. There it was, sitting soo pretty was a HUGE bulge at L5-S1. Because of some other health issues & medication, the bulge receeded. After I was taken off the medication, it swelled back up so I had another ortho visit. He ordered another MRI & got my insurance to approve it. I had surgery to correct it. When I stood up after surgery, I cried because the pain was FINALLY GONE.

Here’s the problem… I have been in Agony for 2 weeks. I went to 3 ERs and the treatment was horrific at each. Each copay $500. They wouldn’t treat my pain. My ankle, hamstring, gluteus, and pelvis burning and pulling and felt like a bulldozer was on it. I couldn’t go to the bathroom I think because the pain is so bad. Can’t sit. My foot is swelling up. The on call doctor mocked me like I was drug seeking. Nobody would help and I was screaming in pain for days and days and days. They treated me horrible. FINALLY my outpatient MRI came back and my regular Otho doctor looked at it and had a surgeon call me within 15 minutes for emergent surgery which is Tuesday. I am utterly disgusted with the ER treatment and the suffering I endured. I can’t wait for Tuesday to get some relief. Finally yesterday the doctor prescribed a few pain pills to get me to Tuesday. So going to the ER is worthless because they won’t do anything but collect your money and watch you suffer while they roll their eyes at you.

I am 54. When I was 25 woke up with severe excruciating pain- dr gave me meds said rest- 2 nights later woke up pain changed to numb like then in am had trouble "closing" when I went to urinate- dr sent me to er- went mri then straight into surgery- Cauda Equina- happened again 6 months later- 1 more surgery 2 years later due to myelogram findings - life changed forever- but could have been worse- still have nerve damage and pain - now have severe deg. disc dis and severe spinal stenosis - dr says 2 rods min 12 screws needed through several surgeries not guaranteed to work. I am crooked- have trouble standing at times- or walking any distance-. I am alone and can't go through that surgery now- just trying to keep teaching 1.5 yrs and retire- Are there any groundbreaking therapies or advances? Thank you for showing this- I pray no one else has to go through this but if they do- should NEVER delay contacting dr. I am despondent about my future at this point- so sick of pain. I have an intrathecal pain pump and am trying ablation in next month- its all so scary. I do Pt, accupuncture, needling, cupping, only med that works is baclofen and it knocks me for a loop even at lowest dose. My MRI results are frightening and have recently had spinal "collapse"- now 2 inches shorter. People should appreciate and maintain spinal health- and understand possible devastating consequences if they don't. Cauda equina damage can be irreversible. I wish there was some hope. Thanks again- people need to know how serious this is.

Took a tipple whammy right before pandemic, l4-l5 l5-s1 and a thorasic at t6-t7 kept me in a bad way for 3 years couldn't sit or lay down
I adopted the "primitive man" way of sitting which to this day is how i rest most the time if you can call that rest, but proper spine alignment got me up still numb especially my feet but better than that chronic burning, i recommend "balance ball" exercise to strengthen your core but whatever you do do not let muscle atrophy set in

This is so wonderful for you to give this to so many that goes to doctor and leave office or hospital with no information of truth just keep sending you to another person and before clarity you’ve got a half year gone before your told something this is keeping people on edge and out of work with this they should be better at helping people get information and better at getting there health back I realize a lot of people are being seen but really there’s no help on aid to some out of work till things are clear to patients on how help is there how to apply we turn to phones and find what some doctors ignored to help with so I give you praise to give this to us Thankyou. God Bless

I've been fighting with this for a year. Went to the ER twice. Finally got an MRI. They said I had bulges in the L4, L5, S1 but they said it wasn't bad enough to cause the pain in my legs, feet, and feet swelling. What a joke. I'm doing decompression therapy and it's starting to work.

I had a laminectomy, and L4-5 spinal fusion in 2017. My symptoms had been: not being able to feel my legs and feet from the waist down (intermittently); sometimes not being able to make myself take a step up. I had no pain whatsoever! I saw an ortho doctor in 2015, who said there was nothing he could do. However, in 2017, I lucked out finding the best neurosurgeon in our region who did the surgery and totally took care of the problem. He said that if I had waited any longer, it would have been too late! The MRI showed degenerative arthritis, scoliosis, and congenital narrowing of the spinal canal.

Also doing all the exercises that you share, and also given by my therapist. It lessen the pain by doing regularly.
I got these from my work due to prolong sitting, I've been working as an employee for 38 years now

I've had troubles going number 2 for 5 years. Doctors have known about it. No one has rushed me in for any surgery. I'm in Nova Scotia. I'm only 34. Also have the horrible situation of being in intolerable pain when I need to go, but I can't go without digital stimulation and enemas. The disc is clearly interacting with my bowels or intestines, which has actually led to me avoiding food whenever I can so I don't produce stool. So tired of it. 😔

Just hope your injury didn't come from work. Else you won't get any quality medical care. I'm on year 20 since my injury that left me unable to walk unassisted for 6 months and now on SSI and barely surviving. In constant pain, bladder control loss, frequency xs 30 plus times a day. I had all 3 of these symptoms and more. I became urinary incontinent within 48 hours of injury

I have severe pain shooting down both legs. It's been like this for 4 months and getting worse. My quality of life is deteriorating but I don't have money for a specialist. No numbness but severe pain. Wiping after after toilet, coughing, bending forward, walking etc is torture. I hope it eventually stops. Literally living a nightmare

I’ve been dealing with sciatica pain for 5 years. 15 epidurals, mild procedure, pt, pain meds. Now have pain in both butt cheeks going down both legs into calf. Two surgeons say surgery but not with a 55% success rate.

This is the best explanation I've ever heard of lower back problems. I have severe lower back pain, and I didn't have the leg strength to stand up from a chair. I called the nurse about 2 days ago and she suggested I go to the ER, but I didn't. I didn't realize that it could be that serious. I guess I'd better reconsider.

I have everything you've described. I've been to the ER three times. They did NOTHING. They gave me muscle relaxers and pain pills. Three Doctors, in two hospitals. I finnaly found a chiropractor that helped me to at least be able to move. After one year I can function much better, but the discomfort at a much lower level is still there.

Never had retention or the cauda equina but I did sit to go poo one time all normal but when I pushed and went I felt something shift and the usual back pain when its really bad followed and I was unable to get off the toilet for a while until I figured out a way to use my surroundings to pull myself up in the least painful way. Thanks for the warning signs that merit an ER visit.
