Ok, I got a problem with 80 and 443 ports already being used - if you stumble on the same issue and you use Skype check its settings and make sure that you uncheck the "Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections". Hope this was useful.

I am getting a 404 not found page upon entering localhost. I had to use a different port and I even opened the port on my router and no progress.

Hey thanks for this! I have an empty monitor and I followed your directions regarding httpd.exe, but it shows me a message which goes like that: AH00369. Access failed to open the windows service manager, perhaps you forgot to log in as Admin? What do you suggest?

Quick question: After you've run it on command line and seen "it works!" on your browser, how do you end the httpd.exe?

If you guys can't start Apache then try to close Skype first because skype has the same port as Apache. In skype properties you are able to turn it off (that skype uses port 80).

I am trying to install, but it seems like I have an issue with the "mod_access_compat.so" file. I get a message on the console, before I am able to run apache. :( Does anybody know why?

Also, I have ASP.net IIS installed on my computer. For me ASP.Net is primary and php is a secondary development work. What is the best work around?
Do I need to close IIS to run apache? as typing localhost in the browser shows the IIS page.

Appreciate any help :)
