Longest US marriage: Connecticut couple to mark 81st anniversary

The longest married couple in America, John and Ann Betar, are about to celebrate their 81st wedding anniversary. The couple fled from their close-knit Syrian neighbourhood in Connecticut to escape Ann's father who wanted to marry her off to a man 20 years older. They moved to New York as family members thought the marriage would not last. Yet some 81 years later they are still going strong, however, Ann, 98, said it has not always been easy. Report by Sarah Kerr.

Sooo awesome, something I doubt you will ever see again. It will be few and far in between. God bless them and their family!! 102 years old....everything about this is great!!

This has put a smile on my face. Marriage is a honourable thing and always will be, the brother looks good 102, they look so vibrant. Wow!!!
