MySQL's UNHEX function can help you store MD5 hashes in a more compact way. (Don't use MD5 for passwords, that's a bad idea.)

Him: "Storing my lyrics index in just 1 byte"
Me: "Storing my lyrics index in a 1536 dimensional vector of about ~6.15 kilo bytes" 👀

I think we're doing things quite differently 😅

Please consider hash collisions in your design to look even smarter, not that they will ever collide in your lifetime, but just incase.

ie: shorten your search range with hash and then look in that range for exact lyric match

I didn't know that computers could look at a text readable file and a hex version as the same 1:1 ...but why more efficiently is time vs computational thing... is this how python can be speed up because it has been cached ?

8 bytes per hex pair? Care to explain?
Saying "one byte in binary form" while showing BINARY(16) on-screen seems a bit (or eight) off...
😮😢😂😅😊
