Once in a sawyers lifetime find, a Chestnut tree from Southern Ontario Canada, most Likely a Horse Chestnut, no an American Chestnut, in any event a very rare Chestnut to mill. I do have a larger 50 inch butt log that we will be filing shortly. We love Alaskan Milling and chose to me Modern Self Reliance and not as much my self reliance or wranglestar. Still 880 magnum was teh choice of saws for this massive log!

Mondo slabs there Lou! Real nice to see you turning raw bucks in to something useful. Hope to see you setting a glass of whiskey on one of those some day!

Great video of the Alaskan sawmill. With boards that wide it wouldn’t take long to floor or wall a cabin. Although I know you’re not supposed to use them that wide because of cupping and splitting.

Beautiful slabs, nice grain! Will they be used for some interior sections in the cabin your building?

Did you make that jig for the saw or is it store bought? And how long is that bar 24"?

Put that log on an angle, let gravity help you a bit with the cut.
