This is exactly what we as human beings, prove that we are salvageable. I'm not saying we're a terrible thing but....
We've done so many horrible things in the past. When someone as influential, like you Ryan, (if you're reading of course) does something so, so... Kind, and pure hearted, you sat down, with 2 whole hours, with that child, talking and playing games with him. While horrible things may happen or horrible actions may occur, it's people like these, who do these things for other, especially when they might be in a bad or horrible place, I have no idea what Jacob was going through, but I think that, he picked you for how... much of a great spirited, and kind person you are. You are the person he wanted to be around, he so fervently wanted it. You gave him his wish, his WISH. He wished, and It. Came. True. If anybody else reads this, just know there's always somebody out there to help, and no matter what happens, it will get better, no matter how small it contributes.
