Man, the Egyptian government should really make a greater effort to restore/repair their greatest & most iconic historic monuments. Even if they can't afford to restore the Pyramids of Giza to the way they looked back when they were still new (covered in polished white limestone & capped with pure gold), they should at least fill in holes like this with new stone so that the winds & careless tourists don't cause enough exposed blocks to come loose & the whole thing starts to collapse.

I really don't think the Egyptian Antiquities Service should allow tourists to go right up to the pyramid and idle around touching the stones, taking selfies, looking for fun and feelin' groovy. Anyone can see the structure is heavily damaged and vulnerable. It should be sectioned off to offer the pyramid the sanctity and reverence it deserves. I really think the antiquities authorities should also restore the stone blocks on the Bent Pyramid, to restore some of the original majesty the pyramid basked in so many centuries ago. The site needn't be so desolate. A tourist park and perhaps a small museum dedicated to the pharoah Snefru would be most gratifying!

and to think, for centaries, areas of old including Europe would 're use and rehome' building materials, not only after or during war, but during peace time...
as things become scarce and or needed to be cut down..
