Live Stream from Blue Iris to YouTube!

In this video I show how to live stream a camera in Blue Iris to YouTube or any other RTMP destination. It is simple and easy to get started. All you need is the RTMP URL and the stream key. This is a great feature of Blue Iris especially for those who have a security camera that is pointed at something interesting. Doing this uses the feature called Webcast in the Blue Iris settings menu.

I've been using BI for years, but you teach me something useful with each video. Thanks!

I followed the original method in the video and failed. I went to the camera settings, Audio tab. ticked 'enable audio channel'. Then went to Webcast tab. under 'Flash media Live encoding' tick box there is a drop down menu, make sure 'audio and video' option is selected. It's now up and running.

Great video! Thank you. Like others, I was unable to get it to stream on YouTube - just says No Data. Tried different cameras and different resolutions, but no luck. I'm sure it something simple with BI settings. Reading elsewhere, there was an older web post that mentioned having to enable audio in the main settings. Didn't seem to help me.

Thanks for the video. Is there some setting to force 1080p or higher resolutions? I'm only able to select 480p.

Thanks for all the BI videos.👍 Will YT allow endless 24x7 streaming or does YT stop the steam after X hours? Example, I set up the stream, view it for a few minutes, then come back in two days and watch it again, then come back a few days later and watch for a few minutes. This would be for a HOA where various residents want to watch the stream to check the parking lot activity.

I have a nginx server running and Point a camera that has direct rtmp into it and a blue iris feed from a camera using this setup you show. nginx is using a hls streamin format to serve the video to web pages. The camera feed works flawless, The blue iris stream only works for a bit for some reason, , , I switched the blue iris camera from h.265 to h.264 to see if that helped but no luck, , , , any ideas?

0:34 that can't be true. YouTube should work with many different resolutions and a few different aspects ratios. Maybe nothing weird but certainly your traditional 4:3 should work. I just don't believe that that would be completely insane.

This worked the first time I tried it, but the next day, I tried again, and... no good. I think it has something to do with the Stream Key. There are two "stream keys" - one is made up of words; and one is a random sequence of letters with dashes. I googled a bit, and found other people maybe having this problem. It's all pretty confusing.

Thank you so much this is a great start for what I am trying to do, however maybe you can answer one more on going question for me. I do 3D printing and sales and a lot of the time my clients ask how does this work do you have video? So I have created two cameras dedicated to my two 3D printers. I want to do just this and create a link that I can put on my web site so folks can click it and watch it live. You have made this super easy for me to do now so thank you so much however my two cameras are within a group that i want to create a link for this group and share it out so when they click on it, they will see both cameras at the same time within two windows. So basically how i have it now, if someone ask to view them, i send them the web login details for this group only and they can then log in with username and password then it opens up with both printers running in. is this at all possible? Thank you so much again.

This works but how do you run a 24/7 livestream? I've been trying to run a nature livestream from one of my BI cameras and the stream only runs 12hrs. I believe the problem (restriction?) may be on the Youtube side instead of BI. (just to mention, I've tried turning DVR off as well because I dont need it saved from youtube)

There is a section in Blue Iris under the tab "Other" named, Scaling. The default is set to Fast, but this setting makes all my cameras look like crap and very pixelated unless I make it full screen. If I change the setting to Bilinear, then the cameras look much better, but makes the cpu higher :(.

Anything I can do to make the cameras look normal while using the Fast setting?

This didn't work for me but I'm assuming it's because I use ZeroTier. Just wanted to fiddle so no biggie.
