Biological effects of radiation

Objectives:
Describe the various effects from the various types of radiation on organisms and the mechanisms for them as well as how exposure is quantified.

A common fear is that being exposed to radiation makes something radioactive. Alpha/beta/gamma do not activate objects (minor metastable exceptions, probably). If you're exposed to neutron radiation though, grab your borated polyethylene blanket and hope for the best. This was a very nice succinct treatment of the subject.
