New subscriber here and I absolutely agree with you. Our daughter was in Mexico 5 or 6 years ago and bought me a bottle for $9.00 and then they went back a few years ago and bought me another. Surprisingly the same size bottle like yours was still $9.00. It really lasts a long time and we use it often and think it’s the best. Love your channel! Linda

Always by the Mexican vanilla with the red rooster on it I have for years because I was told it was the best and it always seems to be just fine. A 34 oz bottle in Mexico cost me $3.50

Dang they're ripping you off online! I live in Southern Arizona and it's only a 15 minute drive to Algodones, Mexico from my house. I buy my vanilla there and that same size bottle you have costs me $1.99! Unfortunately not everyone can just drive to Mexico in 15 minutes lol.

I'm spending around $6 for a 2 oz bottle of pure vanilla from Aldi. We used to buy pure Mexican vanilla locally, but it's been really hard to find. Thanks for the link!

Do you by any chance happen to know what alcohol they use for the Mexican Vanilla?

The best vanilla has 2 ingredients. Vanilla beans, and alcohol.

I was reading that the best vanilla comes from Mexico

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned that so-called Mexican “vanilla” is often made with a toxic substance called coumarin and shouldn't be bought by consumers. It was banned by the FDA in 1954 as it has been shown to cause liver and lung cancer in mice. No such ban is in effect in Mexico."

The reviews on the vanilla link aren't good anymore. Looks like they changed the product from a few years ago. So be careful when buying.

Awesome video! love Méxican vanilla too But it’s not real vanilla. You’re better off buying Mexican vanilla pods so you know what your ingesting

For YEARS I made my own vanilla with Madagasbar beans. But then they had a tsunami and the vanilla crop was destroyed. Since then, corruption and profiteering have kept the vanilla prices high and the crop limited. There was NO comparison between my vanilla and anything I could buy at the store!! My vanilla "steeped" for 6 months and was so potent, I'd use 1/2 what a recipe called for. I will have to look into buying Mexican vanilla (although I have really stopped baking since starting THM 5 years ago - until the last few months, that is). The stuff in the stores is just BARELY better than the fake vanilla in flavor!!!
