To live harmoniously it's best to discuss it and not hide. It's a huge decision and one many can't handle. Women don't have to accept it either, it doesn't mean they're crazy. It would be best to tell her so she doesn't think the man is cheating or fooling around. The fact you'd hide it from her just means you don't have trust or respect for each other.

Most of the people I know have only one wife. And in one or two case they have second wife but they don't follow any rules Allah mentioned about having second wife. They are not even practicing Muslim.

You know guys a man who understands his religion and knows how to behave to protect his family, he will find a good way to manage.
If your relationship with your husband or wife is really how it should be most men in western world don’t want a second wife.
Mostly men who don’t think about their family well do these kind of thinks which destroys homes.
Why? Because of not managing the situation well.
Marring another wife should not harm your 1 family because Allah had made something halal not for harm bc to help the ummah.
Western men should not forget that western women are not cultural and Islamic raised to feel normal if the husbands Marries another woman.
You know that.
If you are planning to have a second wife you should clearly talk about it before marrying.
Because women in the West are not used to it.

I have read a law in Shari'ah that a man should ask consent from his first wife if he wishes to have a second wife or he will be fined or imprisoned. But, as the sheikh said and I did my research, it is not mentioned in the Qur'an that a man should ask permission from his wife. But in my opinion, it's a good manner to tell the first wife since today's generation is different, I never met anyone who fully accepted that her husband took another wife without her consent.

What I don't understand is why some "boys" wish to have another wife when they can't be fair.

i mean, if they (husband n wife) already make an agreement that won't poligamy.
then later, if he wants to polygamy, her permission is a needed.
