What is self-justification?
The Gospel or "Good News" of God's word has already furnished the only way to be justified (considered in right standing with God), and that is through the sacrifice of Christ for us!
However, many religions prescribe various alternative means of which can never prosper to be "justified" in their own eyes. It is those that desire to continue to keep their sin, that seek another means of being considered righteous, and this is SELF-JUSTIFICATION.
SELF-JUSTIFICATION is claiming some right to holiness and right standing with God by something that you do to have favor with God, rather than having faith in what Jesus already did and gave to you as a free gift; With the condition that we live by faith in the word of God.
Why is this so dangerous?
Titus 3:5 NOT BY WORKS DONE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, WHICH WE DID OURSELVES, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
When your justification is by some other means (besides the cross and faith) you are not able to bring forth the fruit of the spirit and partake of the benefits of God which can only come through faith.
