This video is not sponsored I just personally really like ENDLESS OS.
In this video, we take a look at ENDLESS OS a Linux distro/Operating system that has everything you need and want in an OS right out of the box.
I've been using this on a lower-end laptop for a little while now and I’m amazed at how packed and easy to use this bistro is.
I highly recommend trying this out for yourself and by the way it's pretty great for retro emulation also!

This looks like an unlocked version of Chrome OS, which is exactly what I've been looking for to pop up in the Linux world. This would be really good to put on refurbished PCs for people.

" The License

Endless OS asks a few questions before presenting a usable desktop the first time you boot it. It starts out innocently with benign questions about your preferred language and your keyboard layout. Only then are you presented with their horrific, immoral and outright nightmarish license terms.

Endless-os-license-terms.jpg
The hellish license terms are shown with a small font in a small box which can not be resized.

The terms are shown in a small box with a very tiny font. The box can not be resized. It is not possible to open other applications and copy-paste the terms at this point.

The terms state that:

"4.1 Default. Certain information is reported to Endless periodically by the Service. This information includes the version of the OS which was installed and is currently being used, the device that is being used to run the OS and its approximate location, how the OS was installed, and how long the OS has been installed on that device."

Endless OS license terms "last updated 2 June 2017".

It also has a whole section of "Prohibited Conduct" which includes:

"5.2. violate the rights of third parties, including by infringing or misappropriating third-party intellectual property rights;
5.3. attempt to do any of the foregoing in this Section 5, or assist or permit any persons in engaging or attempting to engage in any of the activities described in this Section 5."

Endless OS license terms "last updated 2 June 2017".

Section six of the terms states that they claim the right to deny you access to your own computer at any time for any or no reason:

"Termination of Use; Discontinuation and Modification of the Service. If you violate any provision of these Terms, your permission to use the Service will terminate automatically. Additionally, Endless, in its sole discretion may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice. We also reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time (including, without limitation, by limiting or discontinuing certain features of the Service) without notice to you."

Endless OS license terms "last updated 2 June 2017".

The full license document can be found as a file named They don't tell you this anywhere but it is there to be found - which made it easy to make it available here so you can download it and actually read it with a sensible font in a PDF reader: Endless-Terms-of-Use.pdf

Endless OS will ask a few more questions if you do agree to their terms. We did to test the distribution but we absolutely do not recommend doing so on a computer you will be using on a regular basis.

Next, Endless OS asks you to "Connect Your Online Accounts" and the choices are Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Nextcloud. Nextcloud appears to be the only acceptable choice. It then asks for a "Full name" and gives you option of setting a password. The slider for doing so is, by default, set to disabled. That's it for the initial configuration upon first boot and you are presented with a desktop which looks very much like something you find on a typical Android tablet. "

This is indeed worth trying out. I have stabilized on Peppermint after going through Mint, MX, Manjaro and Ubuntu. I'm an aging IT guy doing less software development and more business process development so I am finding myself with less patience on twiddling and tweaking, whereas out-of-the-box functionality is getting more appealing. I still stay away from the MS Win headaches and frustrations though.

This looks like a neat Windows replacement...but can you run Steam, WINE, etc. and turn it into a gaming machine within this OS? I know other Linux distros may be better for a Windows replacement gaming OS, but I do like the layout of this GUI and the simplicity of how it is from initial use.

I was fascinated when seeing this OS for the fist time. I tried it - it has a lot of limitations, but it is perfect for kids, or your grandma, or just for people, wanting computing out of the box.

I have used many different Linux distros and my favorite was Ubuntu, its easy to use and understand. Is it just me or does that distro remind you of Chrome OS?

I know I can't tell you what videos to make, but can you try seeing if Touchscreen works with Android x86 with an external touchscreen monitor? at least consider it. Please? If you don't want to it's fine I'll still be subbed. I was considering buying an external monitor for this but I can't find anything online.

@ETAPRIME did you try running Minecraft on Windows or another linux distro? looks weird to me that it does not run.

I see lots of comments that complain about the image size of the OS, the lack of the terminal, lack of root, the childish tablet-like GUI.. Let me explain a couple of things:
keep in mind that this distro is designed especially for kids and schools of developing countries that don't have full access to the internet and cannot afford high-end PCs.
1. As the main users of this distro should be kids, the terminal might be hidden. I think you can install it using the appstore. Try pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 to be dropped at console.
2. Kids today often use tablets more often then PCs, that's why the GUI looks like that.
3. I repeat: that distro has a lot of goodies to allow you to study without the need of an internet connection. If you don't like all that "bloatware" or the GUI you can use Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Arch or whatever you like.

Ironically I have a two boys aged 5 and 8 and they have been using endless for the past 6-8 moths. Paired with a usb drive running batocera and the DBZ theme they are all set. I love checking out new distros and when I came across endless two of my old probooks became learning stations for the boys.
