Unboxing the Nikon D600 Kit

I'll definitely be making some videos on how I set up the D600. In the meantime, you can search for my videos on the D800 menus (I can't link to them in a comment) - many menu items are the same!

I recommend keeping at least another Nikon body as a backup. Also, if you do outdoor photography it's really convenient to have one with a telephoto/zoom lens and the other with a prime. Enjoy your new toy. I'm envious!!!

The D7000 is a great camera. So is my D3100. So is the D600. You can make great photos with any of these cameras. I have access to this D600 because this is what I do for a living, but if I had a D7000, I would not see much incentive to go for the D600. Everyone is different, though. Try one out if you're considering it.

I got my hands on a D600 in the store today. I do not like the layout of the controls as compared to my D200. However, I do hope that the camera works out well for you.

I haven't noticed any issues, but I haven't gone looking for them either. The camera may be prone to dust, but I haven't taken photos of blank walls at f22 and cranked the contrast to 100, so I'm not sure if mine is experiencing the problem or not.

D600 does higher frames per second than D800 in FX mode.

I used to order a lot of products from Amazon, but their prices have increased so much on everything that better deals can be found elsewhere. Amazon even began charging tax, which is a large, added expense when you order a camera.

Yes, the time has come for that. I will keep D800, D600, D300s, V1, and either the T4i or D3100, depending on how the DEATHMATCH turns out :)

I know you're not working for Nikon or agency so I trust your review in decision whether this D600 is really a big step from D7000 or it's just a new camera with more unnecessary extra pexiles and the the cheapest full frame sensor.

You're thinking of the J1. V1 uses same battery as D800/D600/D7000. D600 review will be in a week or two... and then a DEATHMATCH.

I know that, I was merely justifying that the 18-105 is far better than most people dare! to admit. regardless of the fact that it is a DX lens(which is not a crappy lens as i mention) read some reviews :)

and by the way, one thing is correct though... when you buy a camera like this WITH the DX 18-105.. my 2 cents is that photography isn't something for you(not talking to you specifically). A few days ago I read a question on a guy that bought a D800, which lens he should buy... nuff said.

it's a matter of opinion. i find the canon button layout to be confusing personally but that's just because i've been shooting nikon for 5+ years.

I got my D600 a couple of weeks ago and it's a great camera, I am really enjoying it. But if I had a D800 already, I would have used that money on a new lens, Unless, you were needing a full frame backup to your D800.
