This is not quite a review - more of a biased window into my Ubuntu 20.04 setup which is (currently) my weapon of choice for managing this channel and video production. Hopefully you learn something from it and enjoy this polished gem of an OS.

19:50 You can change them to dark. Go to Tweaks, Enable User Theme extension & change the Shell Theme to Yaru Dark for example under Appearence.

Been using Firefox for a long time and had no idea about that disable title bar setting! My goodness that's much better disabled!

as a workaround, you can select Yaru Dark shell theme in gnome-tweaks

KDE: Hey, I've seen this one! It's a classic!
Gnome: What do you mean you have seen this one? It's brand new!

That was a very nice summary of relevant information on the kernel. I am looking forward to seeing it in Elementary. I'll also see if the power management tool is relevant for the pantheon DE, it sounds handy.

Great video. As an Australian, I don't like the default USA date format, as you have on the top of your desktop, i.e. May 15 (we wouldn't write the date as 5/15 in Australia either). In Australia the day comes first, then the month, i.e 15 May. I haven't tried Ubuntu 20.04 yet - does it allow you to change the date format via simple mouse clicks in the settings now or do you still have to go and change your locale? Just curious.

15:39 hey ig, the reason ur Gnome software gave a slow search is because of the snap plugin . Try Gnome software without the snap plugin, its blazing fast . Flatpak plugin does not seem to slow it down.

Yeah I also had that printer bug when I was on Pop!_OS 20.04. Kinda found it annoying lol so I just turned off my printer until I needed it.

you also need a bigger disk space to have snaps at the end with all depencys

nice unbiased review! i really don't get all the hate thrown at ubuntu. i mean if you don't like it, don't use it, right? i tried arch and fedora rawhide and i really liked them, especially arch. but something is always pulling me back to ubuntu. i guess it is its ease of use or maybe i'm just nostalgic. it was my first linux distro to use on a daily basis back then in 2006 or 2007 i think. now i'm running the development version of ubuntu 20.10. so far so good...a few hickups here and there, but that's to be expected

I'm not a snap hater; even like the idea of it. I'm using Kubuntu 20.04. But in too many cases they don't work right. Neither the snap nor the appimage for yubioath-desktop worked. sudo apt install yubioath-desktop worked perfectly. The snap for Gimp doesn't recognize system bookmarks, and even after I edited snap permissions and I was able to add my own Gimp file browser bookmarks they were forgotten after reboot. Removed the Gimp snap and did sudo apt install gimp and I've got a working setup. Even though I'd prefer to stick with the LTS, I think I might switch to updating OS every six months to address the staleness of apps that you install with apt. Thanks for the video. I'm going to checkout that appimage launcher.

Blaine is it possible for you to do a Ubuntu 20.04 Unity remix video, and or the new Ubuntu 20.04 Deepin, which will soon become a official family of Ubuntu Iv'e been told. Anyway thanks for these great Linux vid's !

What R&D in snaps? It's not even clear if the startup lag can even be fixed. To make snaps tolerable canonical needs to make them start up immediately, require no daemon that updates things without my knowledge, allow users to edit snaps if they want and have open source server side software that would allow people make their own snap stores. Will they do these things? Probably not. So no snaps for me.

Which OneNote are you using in Ubuntu?

@InfinitelyGalactic hey! how did you install that OneNote wrapper? I want that a lot of people I cross on reddit who are having second thoughts about linux generally ave those second thoughs because they think they can't have OneNote (among other apps) and I thought so too. If having OneNote is easy then that changes everything.
