What is a mooring buoy?...
A mooring buoy is a floating structure which is used to moor vessels; either cruise ships, fishing boats, cargo ships, or private ships while in deep water or shallow water. The buoy is moored to seabed by using chains or ropes, known as mooring. In shallow water they often mark sites for activities such as diving and swimming.
The benefits of this system are two-fold... Boaters do not have to anchor their vessels & The seabed is protected from anchors dragging
