It would be cool if the search bar searched for local files and settings too. Like the PowerToys one

Nice to see UI getting polished further. I wonder if they'll align buttons in File Explorer title bar - in Edge they increased the size of min/max/close to make the title bar look better.
But I don't really like the pronounced/floating look of search/widgets in taskbar; previous build had them flat like rest of the buttons which looked better imo.

5:13 This "new" edge design is taken straight out of Firefox lol

After 27 years of asking, finally tabs in file explorer. Suggestions is also brilliant too.

That new design in Edge seems to be inspired by Firefox more than anything else.

Windows 11 finally catching up with max os. Really love the glass design. I see pretty clean material icon in task bar left corner. Very excited for next big Release.

Tabs in file explorer is a godsend. No more wonky third party plugins. This should have been done ages ago.

Though experimental, the Search button on the left hand side of the Taskbar is rather stupid since the Search flyout is still on the center, but moving it to the left means that it will be always jarring when pressing Windows key to Search as you will see Start menu on the center then cuts off to the left for searching with the Search Flyout on the left side. Unless they move the Start menu on the left as well.

I like the search bar addition but I'd want to configure it to where it only searches the file explorer. I disliked that it searched the web on W10

The whole point of the desktop is to customise it on how YOU want to see it / use it. If that search bar is non-optional, can you imagine the anger it will create with people who like to see their art of choice on the desktop

Which version of GNOME or KDE Plasma is it? 😀

There was actually a search bar in desktop before, but it’s done by opening the Edge bar, and setting it to a search only layout.

How does that search bar on the desktop interact with desktop icons?

No Tabs in File Explorer for me... I guess A/B testing is in progress.

It would be call if they do it like QDir in addition to the tabs feature. Not in tabs but the explorer windows side by side (max of 4) all in a single window.

They need to bring back the bar and introduced for touch ui earlier this year I get it was buggy as all hell but that actually made using it as a tablet really nice on the surface line

I think the Bing search bar that ties with Edge is fine. They do the same with Edge widget on Android, while Chrome's is of course is integrated with Google. With the possibility of this being preliminary proof of concept for third party widget support, all is great.
