There’s absolutely NO reason to be going overboard unless it’s a criminal act against you!!

People on the cruise said she was sitting on the railing of her balcony taking a selfie when she fell. Why in the world are you sitting on railings…. Im a cruiser and you have to TRY to fall overboard

No one knows how it happened? Are u kidding? Either she intentionally jumped off or she was drunk and went overboard or BOTH! I’ve been on many cruises and there’s no way you can simply fall of the boat, you have to try to go overboard stupid is as stupid does 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve been on many cruises, and the only ways I can imagine going over board is being thrown over by someone else, being intoxicated and climbing over the railing, or jumping. I’m interested in knowing how she “fell” overboard, and would also be interested in the young man’s story.

And when she got back on the Cruise ship and changed her clothes she went directly back to the Tiki bar to continue her binge!

Think they need to start charging people for this foolishness. This is getting out of hand. I’m sick of these stories that are unnecessary. They need to also put a limit on alcohol per passenger or parties.

Nobody is ever is able to tell us how it happens. It seems everyone who falls over who is rescued plays dumb as to how it occurs.

Since CLIA is keeping track of how many people have gone overboard and how many were rescued, I wonder if they are interviewing the survivors to learn how they went overboard. Were they drunk, trying to commit suicide, pushed or thrown overboard by someone? CLIA should start reporting what they are learning about this because it would be good for the general public to understand how this happens.. especially those of us who like to take cruises.

She was lucky to be rescued because those waters between Dominican Republic and la Mona channel are full of sharks 🦈

The life rings and smoke flares were thrown overboard to help the crew track the drift and set of the MOB. As a sailor, you are
Taught to throw as many life rings, smoke flares and anything else over Board that will
Float. It can also potentially help the person in the water if they can get to one and hold on.

The passenger might be out of her mind. It is so unlikely to fall overboard on a cruise ship what with all of their safety measures.

Nah, you cannot just fall overboard. Unless, maybe dancing on a railing, with a big bottle of wine in hand.

I don’t get how it’s even possible for someone to go overboard it doesn’t make sense

I can almost guarantee she was trying to do a "Titanic"(photo op) or was trying to "off" herself. A person has to climb OVER the railings to go overboard. They are at a scientific height which makes it near impossible to fall over accidentally. I'm glad she was saved, but unless a broken railing was involved, I'm more irritated than anything at hearing yet another one of these stories.

Its always insane to me how stupid people are. Those cruise ship rails are there for a reason, please do not climb over

The first cruise I took my Daughter was in 1997. The first night on the way to Porta Rica a man went overboard. When we got to Porta Rica the ship had Police with dogs search the whole ship. When we got back from our excursion that day. His Family and Friends were outside with all their luggage. Very sad. We left that afternoon. And went to our next Island. When we got back home to Florida we never heard another thing about it. It was on a Carnival Ship.

The only way to go overboard on a cruise ship is if shenanigans are involved. Minimum railing height to meet code across the US is 36in, but on ships they make them 42in. If you go over, you're acting a fool or someone helped.

Why are all these people falling overboard?! It makes no sense. She's lucky they went back to get her. If they had been out in open waters they would have never turned around to look for her.
