OLD (2023) Baldur's Gate EE Paladin Starter Guide

This is the starter guide for the Paladin in Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition (EE). This guide will show some hints how to build a Paladin as well as what I think about the morality of Baldur's Gate and how that impacts how characters play in the game.

I am just here to appreciate the BG1 content! I still play BG 1 and 2 pretty much on the loop since the release.

I hate how being evil doesn't even net you better monetary rewards while low rep also jacking up store prices. I guess getting access to the best tank, best cleric and the two best mages makes up for it.

There is also with Severance +2 a very good one handed bastard sword (with a 15% chance to drain 1w4hp from enemy and heal the wielder) in BG1 EE and with Purifier +4 / +5 (with a +4/5 against chaotic evil +20/30% spell resistance and cast 2x/ day dispel magic and 1x/ day mass cure) an extremely good paladin only bastard sword in BG2 EE (also but not paladin exclusive Foebane +3/+5). The DMG between Purifier and Casomyr on the end of the day is nearly on a same level +/- 1 or 2 dmg, but purifier is with a speed factor 3 to 4 on casomyr a little bit faster.
So in my eyes i prefer clearly the option to use bastard swords + shields on a paladin, instead to swing a two-handed weapon, also because i prefer to have as secondary weapon a mace for enemy as golems, which a vulnarble against crushing dmg.
