As a genre, ambient focuses on creating a mood or atmosphere through synthesizers and timbral qualities. It often lacks the presence of any net composition, beat, or structured melody. Yea I agree... it's unfortunate the KS4/KS5 doesn't have an editable mod matrix -- however, you can still create some pretty cool sounds with the fixed modulation routings! :)

Fantastic demo. I just purchased a KS4 on ebay today, and am looking forward to trying it out. I'm quite interested in the Supernova as well, but this seems like the synth for me at the moment.

I honestly think the Novation KS series is one of the most beautiful and musical of all the "wierd" or exotic synthesizers. Very playable and expansive. Even makes a good controller.

Hi Igor, unfortunately the patch is not avail for download... it was an experimentation and I didn't end up saving it. With some tweaking though, you should be able to get something similar.

Hmm... both are quite capable synths in their own way :) I've never tried a Nova II, but I do own Supernova II. Even though the KS5 has fixed modulation paths, I find it seems to have a more "wet" and "organic" sound vs. SN2. Also, I do find the KS5 is very easy to start tweaking right away. That said, Nova II likely has more options for sound sculpting, modulation paths, etc. Check VintageSynth website for spec comparisons. If I were you I'd try and buy both, and keep the one you like best! :)

Hi...Easy choice to subscribe...Really enjoyed your videos..im a keyboard player and ive posted 3 or 4 ambient compositions on my channel..i'd love your feedback if you get a chance...I mainly play Korg keyboards (from the Triton to the X3)..watching one of these K4's on Ebay...How do you rate them, particularly playing ambient/soundtrack...Thanks again for the video's..Just my cup'o'tea
