The new Hitachi residential mini-split systems launched in North America offer many innovative features, from enhanced energy efficiency, to airflow control and ultra-quiet operation. Because air is always travelling across the moist surface of the heat exchanger, dust and bacteria can accumulate, leading to reduced performance and perceivable odors. To solve this problem, we developed FrostWash™, a revolutionary technology that removes dust and bacteria to deliver cleaner, healthier air!
FrostWash™ is a self-cleaning technology that freezes water moisture around the heat exchanger, trapping dust and bacteria in a thick layer of frost. This frost is later melted and flushed away, enabling fresh, clean, and comfortable air. It is proven to successfully remove 99%* of viruses and bacteria and 95%* of mold.

*Tested by Kitasato Research Center of Environmental Science. Test No. 2020_0650. Reduction effects of virus, bacteria, and mold were observed by operating FrostWash once.
