I have to slightly disagree with your assessment of Samara and Morinth. While I concur that Samara is one of the weaker written companion characters and Morinth is much more interesting by comparison what you seem to be forgetting is that her depth is only ever vaguely hinted at and they do even less with her character than Kaiden or Jacob. If you recruit Morinth, she acts exactly like Samara would in every circumstance and aside from like two or three conversations including one where she kills you, the fact that she is now a completely different character is never acknowledged and the only follow up her story gets is that she can appear as a Banshee in ME3. At least they bothered to give Samara and arc that gets resolved by the end of the third game

Javik is a jerk. thank god.
Take a victorian gentleman put him in cryo sleep until 2024 wake him up. I pretty sure he will have bias of his time & era about people.

So yeah when Javik went to sleep... Asari & human were primitives, and he treated them as such his entire life. His beaviour makes sense even if yo don't like it.
